Man, so we think there's a Bird Attacking Our Dog..., We've heard about it many times Its been spotted by few, Once or twice Pre Katrina, many times after. well. We assume its an Owl.... what ever it is, its been attacking everything SCARY!!
I say this mainly because a few times, my dog came inside bleeding from odd places. Not only that, There was a headless Pigeon in the yard and although we think Tigger did it. We assume that its the Mysterious Bird.
This Bird is decribed to look like a cross between Deformed Owl and and eagle. LOL that all i know. What ever it is its BIG. It cant be a pelican though. They fly but not always here ..lol
N.O has its fair share of Mysterious domestic animals but a Large bird is just weird man.. lol

I saw a hawk dismember a pigeon the other day on Esplanade. Huge bird, at least a four to five foot wingspan. Raptor wanted the prey bad, and chased it all the way down to street level through traffic.
Brutal.

i got some pics of a hawk gutting a bird in my pecan tree in gentilly this summer.
the fall after katrina i started seeing hawks soaring in the air here.
my take was that where they used to hang out in the east was wiped out.
i never saw them before katrina in gentilly but would often see them when i went down the chef hwy. to eat viet. food in the east.
they were allways easier to spot in the winter when the trees had lost their leaves.
beautiful birds but they would make me wary if i had a small dog or cat in the yard.
