The Beyonce Buzz | HBCU Style Dances In her Videos

Many People have seen the Video's to Single Ladies and Diva and are Critiquing and Criticizing Beyonce for Using Dance Moves HBCU Dance Teams such as SU's Dancing Dolls, TSU's Motion of the Ocean and Jackson States "Prancing J-Settes". Many of these people don't realize that her choreographer was a follower of these dance lines.

I've Read a Blog about Jaquel Knight on the Women Management Blog. Where it basically states that He was chosen to teach "J-Setting" moves to beyonce. Please Note. We're not talking about the "Prancing J-Settes". There's a large Group of male HBCU Dance line Followers who have Taken the name "J-Settes" and have created their own Connection of Teams that Battle Publicly In clubs, on the street, Football games and what have you. They Dress in Drag some times and Dance just like many notable dance teams of HBCU's With that said, Maybe Beyonce was on Youtube watching some of these "J-Setting" videos. Along with some HBCU dance Videos and figured that She'd like to do that.

There Where discussions on The Bandhead.org Forum about Both Videos. On the Recent Diva Release. There s a part in the song where Beyonce Does an 8-count that comes Directly from Southern University's Dancing Dolls. Many people there feel that Beyonce should at least credit the dance lines Rather than Crediting The Choreographer. Why? Because She's taken Moves that only certain Dance squads have done, Modified them and have made them Main Stream Dances.

They Feel that once the dance move goes mainstream, everyone will be doing those dances. Some of the girls in the squads Dislike that because then Every new Auditionee at their schools will do Those same Counts that they assume Beyonce Created. And that's where the problem Begins .LOL why? because each dance line has their own unique style. The members of those squads have standard and traditional Dances per song, Per Theme. Per year. They don't want Every School doing their Moves.

People have even Criticized Beyonce because apparently she's never been on a college dance line.
They don't realize that She's had it in her blood way before destiny's child. She was a Twirler in Calvin Murphy's Marching Thunder Drum and Twirling Corps. In Various Music Videos with Destiny's child she's performed and dressed with Dance teams as her Influence.

Example "Bug-A-Boo"

And then there are Songs Like "Lose My Breath" which the song is also inspired by marching bands, as well as the Video being Dance Team Friendly . as they perform in Battle mode as the "J Sette Connection" does.

The Defence between then and Now is that She has a Choreographer who has shown her how to Do when these Girls work hard to do. and in a matter of Days it was mainstream and popular because of Single Ladies and Its many Parodies on Youtube. People are calling it "The New Beyonce Dance" as they did with "The Rump Shaker / The Butt /Poppin' " which was popularized in 2 Live Crew Videos Back in the day. and has been done WAY before Beyonce Did Bootylicious. In fact people even credit beyonce for Creating the term "Bootylicious" and she didn't even make that up. ..LOL ...

Where Am I Going With This? .. Well of course we know that Everything has to come from somewhere. and I have No Problem with What Beyonce has done. But I do believe in Giving Credit to where it Due. People assume that She a random Guy invented this style. which is WRONG. These HBCU Dance lines Deserve Credit for having their styles swiped up and used for marketing purposes .. LOL ..

.. Nah Really though. Beyonce's great at what she does. Every artist has a choreographer. its just that Jaquel Knight has Created a Monster. What I Mean by that is. He and Beyonce now has the world doing these moves. is it a good thing? Maybe So. Maybe not. as far as the success of these dance lines. They have alot of work to do to Take back their Rightful names. LOL Especially JSU's Prancing J-Settes.. LOL They have a Whole Nation of Gay Dudes Using Their Name.

For Those of you Hip to the Beyonce Dance Buzz. Here's The Origin of some of her moves

Like i said, It ain't Beyonce's Fault. But The Dancers Deserve Credit.
