Yesterday I attended a Forum at the Tejano Center for Community Concerns at the Raul Yzaguire School for Success. When I got there I noticed that there was a band camp flyer on the window and in the main church/auditorium where we had the confrence there was a drum set. Thats when it hit me! .. I Saw this band A few Times Back home at the Zulu Parade at Mardi Gras.
The Confrence started.
The confrence was about the New Houston Digital Houston Initiative and how WiFi can help empower us through Education. I enjoyed Dr. Regans speaches and presentations on where Houstons Education levels were; And what could happen if we Teach Our Educators to use This Technology as a Learning tool. Even if it was home schooling. This event was hosted by Houston Information Technology Empowerment Consortium (HITECH) Representitives of HP, TechCorps Tx and a local area councilwoman was there also. Oh.. Other than that. Another one of my Americorps Vista "Red Group" Buddies Works there. Other than that. Mario and Jim both came to represent out CT 2.0 Project.
Near the End of This Confrence The Drummers Came to get their instruments and they also started playing. So by the end of the meeting I wanted to go Meet the Band Director . One of their members directed me to her. That was great!. Her name Is Mrs. Romeros... I Introduced myself, and commended her having good band program. and some other things. she was busy so we exchanged contact Info. I called her later on in the day to discuss some things. First commenting on the band. I even offered to help out. I told her I was An Affiliate with Marchingsport.com and although I am Just a regular bandhead. I could possibly get them to perform at certain events. They said that they were having practice every thirsday because they're prepairing for the WNBA's Houston Commets game on August 26th for a Pre Game Show. Just before she told me that I asked if I could even Tape the band. She said that she'd have to get some sort of conformation from the school on that note. I was telling her about The Marching Network and What some of Hour plans are. and possibly doing a Miniature documentary for the network. That would be cool. She just told me when the next practice was and to stop by when i had the time.
Pleasure to meet her... Now its time to see the band
Great! .. Now All I Need to do Is Talk to Gerard on that note . Because its givin me Ideas. Because Im more of a Freelancer with Photo's and Video. I Think it would be cool to get the students involved on this project. maybe even coming up with a few questions to ask about the band for this documentary.. It might even take awhile.
The Funny part about it .. is that I Cant even Pronounce The Name of the school
