I know the Lord didn't close the projects, I'm not stupid, LOL. But I'm saying, everything happens for a reason. And Book, how long do you think those people who don't have to live in the projects are going to live there ? Not for the rest of their lives. So once those people move out whose going to be there? The same damn people who were there pre Katrina. Now I agree that the land where the projects are should be used for low income housing and they can even be named the same thing, but I believe that it should be torn down and rebuilt and new specification be put on those who live there. Sometimes you need something new to change your way of thinking.
Here's What I Said.....
..lol... either way it goes people are still gonna have that ghetto mentality...
thats the breed of folk are the reason that crime rises.
i just think there should be some strict housing laws .. to that working people come in to N.O.
I hate the fact that there are people here who want to live for free/cheap.
there are people who get Food stamps, Wic, Welfare, disability checks and they live in public housing where you don't have to pay lights gas nor water. but yet they have cable and a tellephone, and cant afford to pay rent nor bills but yet they want more "free aid" from the government as if The Government owes them. and THAT AIN'T RIGHT!
People need to Learn to Work, not live the fast life
with that said. We are The Government ourselves.
and if everyone realizes that we individuals dont realize that we are only Hurting ourselves by Trying to Get Over on :The Government".
i got ur point.. but yet even without the projects they'll come back and "projectify" things lol

Can't see facebook without a log-in. I'll look into that.
First things first: when commenting on somebody who does not want to pay $1000-1500 for RENT, please realize that that rent in New Orleans pre-Katrina would get you a downtown loft. That is far from the case now.
I agree with things happening for a reason and the concept of a cleansing of all the negative ish going on in N.O., but like Book said, it's all over N.O. and the world I might add. It is very important for people to learn to work for theirs. The concept of a quick dollar is in the minds of many from the investment broker down to the "I know where you got your shoes at" bourbon street hustler.
It is not a realistic or helpful idea to force people to go from "living off" the government to paying everything themselves. True, settling for less is never a good thing, but denying people a solid shelter is really the government (we the people, if you look at it like that, although democracy is somewhat of a nametag in this case) showing just how much it could give a f--- about residents of N.O.
You don't have to open up the projects to let it function the same way it did, but there's only so much one can do to prevent it. HUD has overall say in ANY house/land/property in the United States (check your settlement papers). This is just an example of what they can do, since project ownership is at the city/state level.
It's a challenge, but not an impossible feat. Let people move back. With the amount of work out there, not everyone will be trying to live for free. But when there are corporations reducing their income statements to stay in certain tax brackets, don't blame an individual who CAN deck out a crib and have internet/phone, but not "be able" to pay high rent.
