Dinerral Shavers, snare drummer for the Hot 8 Brass Band and band director at Rabouin High School, was shot and killed on December 28, 2006. He was 25. His murder was one of the galvanizing factors behind the January 11 march on City Hall.

Thanks to Ashley Morris for letting us know.
