Grambling State "World Famed Tiger Marching Band" one of the greatest in history

So im on Marachinsport as usual where this guy askes the question "whos got the hottest band"
Mainly he wanted to know who had the better bands historically, traditionally and based on sound. he's doing this for a magazine

Many of the members wrote Grambling State as one of their choices

So one guy comes around to say

" I dont know why they hell yall keep mentioning grambling. History and tradition, yes. Sight and sound, NO!"

So I replied

well it took "SIGHT AND SOUND" to bring about their HISTORY AND TRADITION!

He says

Well based on what u believe, Valley and Morgan should be on the list also...

He Mentions Morgan State and Mississippi Valley because He Feels that they arent good bands... as well. We all have our pics and chooses and many of us do feel that those bands don't really sound that great nor are they most popukar. But what he doesent realize is that GSU's Popularity is a big part of the reason these bands do what they do

So i came back with THIS...

• like i said Being SEEN AND HEARD was the way they came to being who they are
• The while Bands in the 50's and 60's never left their cities or states, GSU had already been to majority of the US. Tthey dont call them the WORLD FAMED for nothing
• GSU bands popularity is the reason that lots of HBCU bands get TV time today
• Before TV's were a house hold product GSU band and members were traveling the nation and the world.
• Before "SHOW BAND" was the term used for our bands, GSU had a Concert style band playing Traditional Jazz, swingand Marches in the stands
• Just like other bands GSU had prouced great musicians.
• Grambling has influenced many College bands as well as others have influenced them.
  
• GSU is probably one of the reasons the HBCU band battles even exist. WHY? because most likely were one of the first bands to actually Travel to their HBCU Opponents games.

Bands like FAMU as well as the other schools named

We tend to overlook the great things because we laugh at the Petty stuff they do now. but it all leads back to their past.


There are Media and World Sourses that dont realize that These other Black College bands exist. and even if they Do know. The wont geet the first call because they KNOW they KNOW GRAMBLING WILL ACCEPT AN INVITATION 99% of the time! ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY'RE GETTING PAID!!

YOU WONDER WHY GSU GETS NEW BAND SUITS AND INSTRUMENTS AND YOUR BAND IS HURTING? .. ITS BECAUSE YOUR BAND ISNT WORKING HARD ENOUGH TO GET ON THEIR LEVEL

Schools like TSU are JUST GETTING BACK THE SAME POSITIVE ATTENTION FROM
THE MEDIA AS THEY GOT IN THE BEGINING.. THEY ARE SOAKING IT UP TOO..

YEAH GSU HAS A LOT MORE HISTORY THAN TSU, TSU CAME OUT AT THE BEGINING OF THE SHOWBAND ERA!.. THATS WHY... NAW THEY AINT THE MOST ORIGINAL BAND IN THE WORLD BUT THEY MADE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES BY DOING WHAT THEY GOTTA DO TO BE RECOGNIZED ..

GRAMBLINGS SOUND MAY NOT BE THE GREATEST NOW .. BUT IT SURE IS A BIG PART OF THE REASON THE WORLD WANTS MORE OF THEM!..

And to add to that. yeah. I have my reasons and things i dislike about Many bands as well as Grambling state. but i feel that its disrespectful to knock the fact that this bands sound didnt make them who they are.. every band has highs and lows. These people are musicians, they desirve the respect that they've earned a band and as a music program before they were just one of the average HBCU band ..

GSU stands in a Class of their own as far as their history goes, nobody can take that away from them.
