Convo with Ashley on Christianity / The Existance of Satan

  • Ashley: hey there.
  • The Book: hey
  • Ashley: did you check out that site?
  • The Book: yeah i've seen that site before, I think i have them saved as a friend on myspace.
  • Ashley: i like it. it's....different from what i've been exposed to.
  • The Book: here's the folks i have saved http://profile.myspace.com/114260505
  • Ashley: you know people believe that Christianity is a complete myth?
  • Ashley: legends? folk tales?
  • The Book: why and how? Maybe. because there are so many different forms of Christianity
  • Ashley: there are so many forms of religion. dividing it's principle meaning doesn't help either.
  • The Book: sounds like some Atheist would say Christianity is a Myth, because they don't have spiritual beliefs
  • Ashley: http://www.mochasuite.com/forum_new//forum_posts.asp?TID=8494
  • Ashley: read if you can get on that link.
  • Ashley: did it work?
  • The Book: ohh... yeah.. i see where he came from with it ..
  • The Book: still spiritual
  • Ashley:: yea.
  • Ashley: it's just saying that the big good and bad dispute doesn't necessarily make Satan a bad person. he's just someone that introduce us to ideas and it's really up to us to act on it or reject his ideas.
  • Ashley:power of suggestion.
  • Ashley: that's all he is.
  • The Book: LOL i like the question about the devil and humanity
  • Ashley: i say this. piecing all of that together, maybe he's just a part of the plan that God has for us.
  • The Book: i like this "Satan was used as a force to kick man out of their comfort zone so they can have experiences that promote spiritual growth and understanding."
  • The Book: lol
  • Ashley: God gave us free will. but if everything was so good and there was no bad how can we know to choose right from wrong?
  • The Book: right!
  • Ashley: I like how he went in depth with definitions and origins.
  • Ashley: and the image of Satan?
  • Ashley: i mean, he was an angel.
  • Ashley: God creates good.
  • The Book: the thing is. The TV kinda gave us a Satan that looked like a Crimson Goat
  • Ashley: he was good at one point...he was just a person with a voice and wished to fulfill other choices rather than those that God wanted him to.
  • The Book: lol and thats not now the devil is described in the bible ..lol thats how a few other demons were described as well ..LOL ...
  • Ashley: yea. wasn't he described as a beautiful angel?
  • The Book: yeah, they never said that he grew horns ..lol
  • Ashley: man, a Jehova's Witness told me that there is no hell.
  • Ashley: that God just would not destroy his creations in such a cruel manner.
  • Ashley: what i think is is this, the Bible has many symbolisms.
  • Ashley: forget that DaVinci's Code....
  • Ashley:it's a map.
  • The Book: many say hell is earth
  • Ashley: it's a deeper understanding.
  • Ashley: i'm thinking this, maybe hell is suffering.
  • Ashley: the pain you bear while you are doing wrong?
  • Ashley: your consious is beating on you.
  • Ashley: that's just an idea.
  • The Book: could be, nobody alive actually knows.
  • The Book: Revelation 12:9: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
  • The Book: ..............eh!
  • The Book: Al-Quaeda! .. j/k
  • The Book: it is kinda like a myth .. because ... Revelation was a someone telling a dream or nightmare so to speak... a vision
  • Ashley: yea.
  • Ashley: ...some don't even take Revelation that serious. like don't even make no mind of it.
  • Ashley: like "oh. just some crazed man's dream".
  • The Book: lol
  • Ashley: but sometimes, God reaches us through these ways.
  • Ashley: and maybe He used this serpent to connect with how we see him.
  • The Book: after reading that stuff on mocha i went here http://www.religioustolerance.org/dem_bibl.htm
  • Ashley: and maybe He's saying "all those other choices will be cast away and the concepts of righteousness will be brought on to us"?
  • The Book: i think its just according to the person who reads and the person who teaches
  • The Book: because. you know. the bible is a "take it how you want to" kinda book ..lol and it has a whole lot of things with a lack of detail in it..
  • Ashley: but if one reads it just to read it, they wouldn't think of it like that.
  • The Book: its like we have to Figure it out
  • Ashley: i think that's the main point. We have to seek HIM.
  • Ashley:we have to find out for ourselves what's pleasing to him.
  • Ashley: yes, there are options (like them homos be saying God made them that way) and we must decided for ourselves is this what i am suppose to do?
  • The Book: Religious orders are wild, because we learn to believe what the teachers teach instead or reading and getting our own concepts.
  • The Book: you know. Homosexuality is a choice, not a disease
  • The Book: what we perfer is not always right
  • Ashley: not a genetic disorder. when i say that shit, folks don't believe me.
  • Ashley: we have free will. WILL TO CHOOSE FROM RIGHT AND WRONG. lol.
  • Ashley: maybe that should be added on to the end for the dumbies that just don't get what choices are.
  • Ashley: man....really.....i haven't told no one this. not even my boyfriend. but....sometimes....it seems unreal.
  • Ashley: like maybe it is a myth. the more i think, the more distant my faith becomes.
  • The Book: lol ... it's hard to manage, but we gotta believe in something.
  • The Book: like how we all believe that there is One god but there are millions of ways to get to him.
  • Ashley: yea. that's how i see it.
  • Ashley: you know hinduism is older than Christianity?
  • Ashley:Judaism?
  • The Book: Thinking too hard on it will confuse a lot of people. especially reading the bible because loads of it is repetitive
  • The Book: I Read some where that Christianity came out sometime after folks rebeled against catholic teachings
  • The Book: i think that had something to do with a Pope-like Figure.
  • The Book:catholics make the pope seem like he's the closest thing to a living god.
  • The Book: ..lol its like a big Fraternity ..lol with things like Becoming a nun or a preist or even a cardinal ... just wild
  • Ashley: i'm sorry. but to get to God, one must go through The Son. not through the Pope.
  • Ashley: he's just some idolized man.
  • The Book: yeah
  • Ashley: MAN. lol. not super human.
  • Ashley: he's one of us.
  • Ashley: all of this stuff is super interestin.
  • The Book: lol yeah..

... Ya Like That Don't'cha!
