Man, I hadn't had a bag of those Chee Wee's in a Long Time!....
For the people who dont know what I'm Talking about, Here it is!...
Chee Wee's were The New Orleans Version of Cheeto's. If you were ever to go to the Sweetshop where the Chee Wee's or Cheeto's were behind the Desk You'd ask for "Chee Wee's" and you'd get either one. lol unless you ask for it Directly... such as "Hot Flamin" or "Flamin' Hot's" ..lol
Well.. The Thing I miss about Chee Wee's is that it was our childhood Favorate's .. If you had 75 cents you could get a Big Bag.. Thats when you just knew you were on the Ball!.. if you had a big Bag, you could have a Porch Picnic! ..lol
Check out The Link to Elmer's Chee Wee's HERE
What I Meant by a "porch picnic" is this ...
Lets say you were about 8, 9 or 10 years old .. You're out playing Curb, Throw-Up Tackle, Cool Cans, Fly In, Mayonaisse or IT...Basically the Hood Street Games.... and You're ready to snack. you and your whole Clique of friends would walk to the Store to by Loads of Penny Candy, and at least one back of Chips a person (different kind) .. and A "Mister" or Big Shot" ( or a Quarter Cold Drink)... and you would Chill On The Poarch by the house.. .. yep.. get some old Card board and Dump Every Think on it!.. and have a Picnic! ..lol
Man I gotta give yall some defenitions from Part of The N.O Dictionary ..lol
Chee-Wee: - New Orleans Version of Cheeto's and Also another name for Cheeto's
Porch Picnic (Ghetto Picnic) - we just call them Picnic's but they Took place in just outside your house or who's ever house you're by at the time. all you did was Dump All Your Chips out it to one Mixed pile and Feast! ..lol
Curb - A Game Played with a Basketball, Thats done over a Drive Way or Street with at least two Narrow Lanes, The Object of this game was to Hit the Other persons Curb, so that you can make points and so that the ball can Bounce back towards you. .. Extra Points if you Make it The Hit while a car is passing... but if you hit the car... RUN!! ..lol
Throw Up Tackle - This game was also called Hustle & Pitch Up Tackle - why? Because You basically THREW the ball Up, the crowd of players have to catch it and Run Back to the Goal Line.. If But if they get tackled, They're out of Luck and the ball is thrown back to the person who previously had the ball...
Cool Cans - There were two Versions of this game. .. It consisted of a Tennis ball and any number of Cans you'd like.. the purpose of the game is to knock down all your opponents cans ... This was a Hood Game that you could only play On Project Porches (Long Porches) ..lol The 2nd Version was played on the Ground with a Stick and ball... Same Object though..
Fly In - Base Ball version of Throw Up Tackle without the Tackle.. The bad part about this game is that Many Windows can broken ...and its a possibility that nobody will catch the ball If its Hit like a home run... and If you let the Ball Roll it dosent count as a Catch. ..Or if it Bounces more than Twice ..lol
IT - TAG! ... run from the person who's "IT".. and make it to base
Mayonaisse - A Game Like "It".. But the whole thing about it is that The person makes you hold their fingers and yell out Food Items!.. but when they yell MAN-AZE thats when you RUN LIKE CRAZY untill you get to base .. or else GET FROZE!
Penny Candy - Candy you get for a penny such as assorted Tootsie rolls and Hard candies too
Quarter Cold Drink - We Call Our Soda's "Cold Drink" or "Coldrank" (lol) .. Usually Quarter Coldranks were Locally made or Off brands..
Mister - A Brand of Coldrank's! .. sold at 50 Cents for a Glass Bottle or a Canned for a Quarter
Big Shot - Brand of Drinks .. Similar to Mister but came in more Sizes!...
lol There is MORE were this came from but thats all y'all are getting for right now!
..
