to my cous JMayne: First off, most of us aren't 100% anything in this country. And especially since our ancestors were used to reproduce slaves...I don't think there's a one line of 100%. So don't think you are alone on that one~whether or not you grew up learning your heritage or not. Your ethnicity is still African American.

My family is somewhat the same in the sense that things were hard back in da day so they'd rather not speak on it. However, we do have some folks in the DuCre' bunch that have been compiling a family tree, thus bringin out a whole lotta info on the history (whether sweet or sour). From this, we've been able to talk more openly about being light skinned...etc...

I suggest you look into doing that. it may seem tedeous at first, but damn, once you get going it's so interesting!
