Another step for new orleans marching bands

yep, there was an article on CBS about Tipitinas donating the instruments to N.O bands (there was probably a tv story to go with it but i didnt watch the news today) .

okay, after reading that, i had a conversation with gerard talking about how N.O. band have lost part of the craft it has created, not only because of the schools, its because they are misguided in to believing what they know is the way. Yet they came up thinking that the band director makes them a good band, thats nowhere nere what they Need to think. in N.O. bands were always like a competitive sport, the bad part about that is , it seems like nobody with in the city knew or out of town bands during my time as well .. but .. Now that they do have that experience, but they don't have the same drive, motivation or skill due to katrina setbacks and seeing the bands of the past.

Lack of experience is killing the band programs here. but you cant blame the students. you have to blame the school boards for not coming up with the proper tools for them to learn ... as well as people like me, who know how things were done and really cant give a helping hand just makes it worse .. Our bands were like and passage of knowlege and legacy . somehow i think It's Losing that. Why? basically because the lack of experience ... Basically ..lol (sounds repetitive eh?)
