okay, so last week i sat up another PC to replace the XP which went out on us for good recently. Well, It took me a whle to boot the sucker up and put what all software and things up there (because the first time it gave out on us) .. so basically, my dad gets on the PC friday and Messes crap up, It had those "Virus Protect Pro" ads and Malware all over the system. Thats kinda the usual after my dad gets of fthe PC because he signs up for spam and clicks everything.
Basically, not only did he install the malware, but he installed MORE malware after that. why? because he saw the popus. that said "you have This Virus, Let us scan ur system" crap... and therefore it gave us MORE CRAP!! .. so I used all the scanners had on that PC to try to block what ever i could. The sad part is that every time i'd leave the PC alone. He'd go sit back there as if its done .. then he calls me to say "it's finished " ..lol NO ITS NOT BECAUSE I HAVE THREE OTHER SCANNERS RUNNING..
Good thing was, I had a program valled FileShredder to securely delete some things manually after uninstalls or scans, it made the process much easier.
Anyway ... I found a software i needed to get rid of that particular mal-ware. it was a dos syle product, used in the CMD prompt. called "SmitFraudFix"
Other than that. because Windows 2000 doesn't have IE7, i couldn't download the tool i wanted for some of the blockage. not can I set it so that he could be BLOCKED .. from that stuff. It's a shame that i have to block my own dad from the PC..
I put Firefox on all the PC's and they still dont use it.. what a waist of time ..lol
