VJ Day Celebration Video

VJ Day, Honolulu Hawaii, August 14, 1945 from Richard Sullivan on Vimeo.

These are the kinds of videos I love. Home made documented videos of Life as it was. although this is a Celebration of victory  after WWII. it shows how people  and the soldiers themselves felt about what it is that they were doing.  It's possible that hadn't they won the war. America wouldn't be what it is today.  Those were simpler times, especially for white folks. but even with that said. I love to see this kind of thing.  It's not "TV" it's REAL!.

With that said, The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were kinda messed up. but apparently it was necessary to do.   I see it as something that wasn't Great for all who died. yet at the same time It makes Great american History.  Along with that. Great Japanese history came out of it. within film and Television. some of our favorite Superheroes  Super Villains and Super Monsters came out of this time period. Much based around the war. Such as Godzilla it self.

Amazingly though, we can celebrate Victory that's ultimately someone elses tragedy. they go hand and hand nearly. I guess that's just how Life works.
