they always question topic deletion..

and that Deletion eventually Amounted to someone basically putting the dolls on a high pedestal as usual.. (as the topic related to the  recent Bayou Classic)

MM76 said,
I don't have a dog in this hunt coming from the east coast and am no ways a dancer, however, the Dolls are straight fire, hotness, etc! So, everything they do isn't a perfect as it can be. Well, I've yet to visit Perfectville or meet its inhabitants. The fact remains they are to HBCUdom what the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are to the NFL/professional dance teams. I mean they just had 40 years and 4 generations performing for homecoming. Who else can lay claim to that? And, while others are touting other squads consistency is key if you want to be the big man/girl on campus. 1 or 2 years of a good performance does not make one a legend. Get past a decade and then talk. Madd props to SU/JSU cuz they seem to be the only consistent groups out there of all HBCUdom.

therefore I posted this

the Dolls came about in 59, SU's band went thru various name changes before 1969 when they were officially named the Marching Human Jukebox (eventually shortened to human jukebox) .. the dolls were dolls thru all of those changes.. that's tight huh? .. if you add the belles (which are a totally different group) to the list the whole aux has been around just as long as the school had a band... the dolls basically celebrated 40 years of a breed like no other ..

Texas Southern's also celebrated 40 years of the ocean of soul @.... which includes all groups in the unit... the school's had a it all since 1947, the band and aux names came in 1959.... so SU’s dolls ain’t the only ones celebrating 40 years ...

AAMU... got a dance team in 98.. you would Have to expect that their Influences are Tied to other teams.. .. prior to The Divas, The Twirlers have been there since The Beginning of AAMU's band ..

JSU became the Sonic Boom in the 70's... same as the J-settes
. PV's dancers were called the black foxes long before pv's band was called the storm...
Orchesis was at gsu in 48... back when gsu wasn't famed at all..lol

40 years is great..but in that 40 years all of these teams inducing their predecessors have changed drastically.. almost everything we've gotten accustomed too about these teams became "signature" way back in the 70's ... .. some of them teams still only appeal to a generation before our time, but that's them.. it's what they do.. i can respect what they all do because we are Entertainers .....

what you see now, or think its new or innovative.. it's all been done before.. yet now maybe enhanced to raise the bar....to make other teams go back to roots or possibility break away their traditional styles to compete. ...
with that said.. its all about the doing what you do the way you do it.... and having fun..

Now since we're on the Subject of Bayou Classic .. What We Know as GREAT, CLASSIC and ORIGINAL, its also BORING.. because we EXPECT to see them Do The SAME THING.. but when Certain People from Certain Schools speak their mind on those performances like these you all get HEATED..

And at the end of the day.. Threads get closed and Deleted..

I Love the These Teams because they're there to Entertain me. .. it's about what they're doing NOW .. because when its over..its been done.. If I had came on here to share My Opinion and I get cussed out.. You're getting Banned as compared to having a thread deleted.. . but hey.. I don't really have an opinion anyway Yeah I do Care about the Wellbeing of their "character" so to speak.. but hey I'm just a Dude lookin' at Body's move.. You can take that how you want.. .. But that's how I see it...

and if you ask any Observers outside of band, what do they see.... They question it ...as if These teams are being exploited..because what they see is Rated R.. Not the art it self...

i guess my point is ..Respect the Craft... There's a way to Critique the Art without Disrespecting someone's Individual self.

.. I'm out

It’s That Time!!!

Oh man! This has been a Busy week for me!.. let me give you somewhat of a rundown..

As you would already know if you know me, I have been covering the Bayou Classic events since with marchingsport. so In light of that, earlier this week I went to get a battery for the cam and to get some knee pads…

I was able to do that, the sad part is, I got the wrong battery and Small Knee pads yet my brother saved the day by bringing be back to the store to switched the battery. My dad saved the day by getting Knee pads from his job.

With That said…….. I’m Set…

The same day, I saw Dre, I invited him to the Frat Gathering where we  Accepted 5 new members and met some of our Neos of the Beta Chapter.  I think its great because we’ve been Expanding since 05 man…

Thanksgiving was Nice, I went to head by My kinfolks… well Technically they’re all not my kinfolks but being that about 3 of them are my uncles sons that makes them related Therefore they all are my fam..LOL! .. yeh..

As for today. I’ll be covering the BOTB. but Not tomorrows game…  I WILL ATTEND that game though.. AHHH MAN! im GOOD!

Im about to head to Cafe Du Monde for this Frat Meet & Greet. I hope we don’t scare anyone with our Heavy Call Outs!..lol

Don’t Judge Us Because We Love Our City

Aight, I’m at this Page on Bossip.com which talks about the the Army Corps of Engineers being held Responsible for the Levee Malfunction which caused Katrina’s Flooding to be worse than it should have been.

Note: I don’t usually go to this site, but this particular entry interested me.    I will Post some of the comments made there here, as well as How I Feel about a few particular comments.

Str8 Truth
New Orleans knew for almost 20 years before Katrina those levees were not in the proper condition. New Orleans did not upgrade them.

Score another one for the New Orleanians looking for a handout. One thing I can say about Mississippians and Alabamans, they picked themselves up and moved on with dignity, even though the rest of the world forgot about them. Katrina made landfall twice, and neither time was NEW ORLEANS!

And what This Person doesn’t see is that, We were told to stay away from New Orleans until the Water is Gone and Until Power and utilities can be restored, which would make the city livable in some areas. we couldn’t just come back and say “Ah Lets Rebuild!”. because it was illegal for us to stay. and due to Martial Law, Many who stayed were Jailed, Killed, or Killed themselves. because it was hard to survive in those conditions.

C Dub
The government conducted a modern day Holocaust to rid New Orleans of it’s primarily urban population and make it more attractive to tourist who visit for Made Graus and other festive activities

I can’t agree with the Modern Day Holocaust comment, but I believe that that that The Policies made by Local & State Government have been set to Keep its residents Down… They chose to Use lots of money to Create new Tourist Attractions, and to allow Bus tours of the 9th ward.. that sucked… BUT! without the people, nothing about New Orleans is Attractive. .. WE, The People  set the tone for this city.. In Many ways, Good or Bad.. yet we Live with it.

Here’s another response by Str8 Up

First, I am a proud, self-sufficient, independent woman. Were you affected by Katrina? If not you bring conjecture, nothing more. Every affected person I know from Mississippi or Alabama has rebuilt without the government or handouts. The day after, my community was out cleaning up, not screaming on TV.

Proud to say I survived, got up, rebuilt, and made my own way, like my fellow statemates. *pops collar*

Know what you are supporting before you support it. Know the backstory before you jump on the bandwagon. Do your research.

Oh and it is D-E-F-A-M-A-T-I-O-N.

She acts like she’s mad, I hate when people experience something like this and then say “ We aren’t waiting for handouts”.. it only shows how ignorant you are to the fact that we Couldn’t Stay here, We Couldn't Get up and Rebuild Days after..

As for the Screaming on TV, How about this, many of us.. Like myself Felt that we had a story to tell. it wasn’t all Tragedy, It was a Story of Survival.  as well as a story of Truth and what I saw with my own eyes.

Living here now, I see what hasn’t come back and They’re all distant memories. When A Flood or the Government took away all I knew, I had to comeback somehow and rise above that.

Yeah We Got Hand Outs, but we also Got Jobs, lived our lives and Did everything else to get on our Feet. WHILE THE CITY WAS FLOODED and we were DISPLACED..  Yeah we Know people died in Mississippi and Alabama too but was a whole City told to Stay away for Months.. NO.. This is why you were able to Stay There and do something.. We Couldn’t because we were not in the city..

Live and Learn
Only poor, uneducated people (mostly blacks) lived on the lower ground near the levee because the white people were smart enough to see the bigger picture. Give the same people money and they will foolishly waste it by returning to potential disaster once over. White people would take the money but move to even higher ground. Open your eyes and learn black people in the gulf area. Don’t build your home on shaky ground. Find a solid foundation out of harms way. There is a reason land and homes were so cheap in that lower section near the levee: it was called danger zone!

See, This is the kind of stuff that makes me Sick, because they DONT KNOW WHAT THEY”RE TALKING ABOUT!! .. You see.. It’s not a Black or white thing.. The whole area is surrounded by water.

You can’t Hide from Natural nor Man Made Disaster.  you can only avoid it for so long until its meant for it to happen during your time in the area.

You act like we’re dumb because we chose to stay, We love our city, Maybe its not the best place for development, but We Live where we can survive. and we have survived.

This Whole City is a Danger Zone..  Everybody lives Near Water. See, These are the people that think that All the Black people lived in the Lower 9th Ward and that Whites lived everywhere else.. These are also the same people who cant Identify The lower 9th ward on a Map.  yet they wanna talk about Every “Black” era and call it the 9th ward out of Ignorance…

Yeah, This ain’t the perfect place. Nowhere is..

There were many Disasters & Federal Emergency’s In America Since Katrina… many of them Blamed New Orleans for FEMA & RED CROSS not Having money to Help them…

You ask us why do we live here?
Ask People in California why do they Live where Landslides & Earthquakes  or Even WILDFIRES are prone to happen..
Ask the people Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, Why do they live where Sand Storms are deadly?
Ask the people in Indiana why do they live in Trailers if they live in areas prone to Tornados?
Ask those who live Near Hoover Dam what where would they go if it floods?

… I’m Just saying…

You Can’t Avoid Everything bad thing  Life throws a you.. You just Choose to Accept your environment and take the Least Destructive path. This is why we survive..

Aside from The Racial Issues and The Corruption going on that holds us back as a city, we’ve all managed to live with the reality that it’s on US to make our lives better. Not what YOU FEEL ABOUT US!

I’m Done..

Ah, Exactly what I’m talking about…

The most recent situation is some Lame on youtube. This guy replied to my comments basically saying He’s glad New Orleans was Wiped off the Map.  Apparently he doesn’t care that We’re is still here.

The replies were under  this Video

I explained to this guy that This city is bigger than Crime, and he doesn’t know what It means to be from N.O. Then he goes into his work history here and steadily reminding me that this is a horrible place to Live.  After Replying back, the fool goes on to talk about my how I missed a simple wording. at 3am in the morning because I said that he doesn’t have a true connection to New Orleans.  Apparently he had nothing better to say.

I Admit, I’m no grammar King, and with typing that early in the AM. my brain isn’t telling my hands to process everything. but hey, go ahead and take out my grammar errors. Proper grammar won’t save you in a matter of life and death.

I’m not the kind of person to wish bad things on peoples lives. but man, he’s the kind of person that needs to get hit by a bus.. LOL

Note From The Book

That’s Partial Motivation

Dude’s on these forums questioning my bandheadedness…..  I guess he thinks its funny to mention what I’ve done amongst the band he was part of as compared to the one I am. They seriously see a problem with me being a fan of that band due to me being a former member of a rival program.

So they Question my Status…  Yet I come back with the Truth, they want to make it Known, therefore I make it know. Others tend to beat around the bush when it comes to this band stuff, I get directly to the point. where theirs a problem it must be addressed. I can sit here and Talk a bunch of Mess about bands and be totally Ignorant in regard to the situation. but due to me being well rounded in the craft I try to Generalize every subject and call it as i see it.  But people tend to get Angry when I mention their Bands.  Why? Are they trying to hide the Truth?.. Too Much Pride huh? Yep..

This one guy Mentions many situations, Including one where drew attention to a situation regarding a friend. He thinks its funny, but it did exactly what  I wanted it to do.  As for me, Honestly I can’t Respect somebody who can sit up and Talk badly about females in their own program,  but when others come around they Get All Defensive .. But as soon as I say something They Accuse me  of knowing too much of their business.  If it goes public my Friends, it Ain’t your business.  Most of these cats are filled with pride. yet Privately on their own secret forum that they call “Nation”. They discuss what they really think of the that band.. although many sugarcoat it.. they do basically tell what they really feel..

With that said.. most of the cats who talk the Most Trash on them forums, They came from Garbage Backgrounds and the only good bands they ever been in Began their freshman year in college.

As for the Others.. They talk about Being “Real” . Yet they try hard to Stray from the Truth.. And The Truth I AM  and the same time, I may not always be Accurate, Nor may I always be Right, but I refuse to be Belittled because you don’t agree with me.  State  your point rather than calling me out my name because at the end of the day, It shows that you are weak…

In Review

Yeah man, November 4th was my mommas birthday, we were out and about for a while, then we came home and partied with the family. it was also My cousin Casey's birthday. she made 31.  Friday She Had her party @ 7140. It was Cool, My Second time being there.

Earlier that day I walked SUNO's homecoming parade route & snapped some pictures of the bands, I'll post them Later.  My body is still in pain from That walk, I haven't done it in a long time. I think for parade season I'll be doing that though. Charles asked me to come help him out at Fisher. I think I'll go ahead and do that.

Saturday I didn't do much but lay down, play SvR09 and talk to Qui before Wil came over here. at that time, my dad was fooling around with the stereo system, he actually took it to the limit. It blew out ..LOL! but we fixed that problem. it cant handle more than 4 speakers,.. its a great Machine!!

Wow It feels crazy blogging again. I haven't really done it like this in a Hot minute.

A Few Situations That got to me this past week was The Fort Hood situation. as well as Grambling State's Band busses Crashing. Oh and well, The Saints are now 8-0. Lastly, Ida.. I need to watch the News more often. Things are getting crazy in the gulf.

I wanted to go that book fair in the Quarters to attend the reading. but unfortunately my body wouldn't allow it. LOL. I Talked to Josiah as well as Jaime briefly about taking part in UNO's Pep band, I may do so.

I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow, Washing my clothes and Prepping for evacuation would be a great thing to do.

I'll end this post here, The Pictures should be in my very next Entry.
