A number of websites have reported this accident which occurred earlier today.
at about 10.30 I got a message from A Morehouse band member via facebook saying  “Hey Book, Our Bus Flipped over.".

Since The News Broke, Discussions have been taking place various Band Communities Such as here on 5Q. as well as through comments via Facebook.


I Personally am glad nobody died.

According to ABC26, Brother Martin and St, Aug are clearing up that Beef.

Yep, Basically Just a big issue with the administration allowing it to go on that way.
It was stated that Brother Martin Apologized  for the skit.

After reading and understanding what they Meant to portray, I could see that clearly.. But As John Raphael said.. It was the image of the “dark knight” in the Helmet which is more is a clear stereotypical reference..

Man, Brother Martin is a great school, I just think the students should have rethought that skit. They don’t need to be punished for it though.

I Personally don’t see it being a Big deal, Just a bad part on the administration for allowing the faces to be covered Black.. and having the Black student being “arrested”.. Stereotypical isn’t it?.

A Bandhead Exclusive | Spirit

Earlier today (Oct. 28th) while Viewing an Old Clip of My High school band playing "Spirit" I ran across This a Comment which Disturbed me..

and I've seen other comments like this on Many Occasions, basically saying “Knigten Made it up” …But They’re Wrong.. Maybe Cornell Knighten wrote Wrote SU’s arrangement, but he didn’t Compose. the song.  Infact in SU’s 1996 Bayou Classic Halftime Show They Tell you the Composers name prior to playing the tune... So why are people still asking this? .. Maybe because they Dont Know who He Is… As i replied on Youtube.. My High School played the song and his name was at the top of the page of the Sheet Music. Other than that, Up until now I honestly haven’t heard the real song..

For those of you who don't know,  You HAVE to do your research..  The Song "Spirit"  or "Cyber Spirit" according to the Human Jukebox Band announcer, was Composed by Tom Hedden.  You may have heard many of  hedden's compositions on your favorite Sports Intro Videos. 

"Spirit" was part of The same Genre of music, And Is part of a 3 part Composition called  “The Hero’s Suite”  Therefore anyone Looking for this song Will Fail trying to find it. I’ve managed to come across the 3 part tune, and cutting out the part where Spirit Begins.

Got things to do

Today was an Okay Day. I went to get my Hair cut at Stop Jockin’ In Preparation for this Funeral. I talked with Jimmy (the Barber) about how Our Community (The St. Bernard Neighborhood) has changed over time and what to expect and Hopefully get  to see in the future.  Things are Changing and I think its for a better.

I was supposed to attend the McD35 Homecoming, But I decided to come home instead. From there I downloaded games on the Wii, and then chilled with the fam.

My Mom & Dad left to head to Sears, My Sisters and I went to Kings Buffet to eat.. yeah Good food, I’m good & full. We just discussed the situations dealing with the Death of her Brother N Law and the funeral as well.

Life is Hard.  but things happen, Sometimes its as if  its like “Final Destination” when its your time to go.. it’s unavoidable.

I’ll be attending that funeral.

The Dog, The Dog.. Bit him

The dog bit My nephew near the eye. the cut isn’t big, I was holding the dog when it happened, the dog snapped at him when he slapped the dog… Partially My fault because I shouldn’t have picked the dog up.

My nephew likes to mess with the dogs… we would always stop him from taunting or hitting them all the time.. but this time I grabbed the dog instead of my Nephew  because the dog started to growl a lot. As I held the dog, My nephew came to taunt the dog, the dog snapped at him..

 

He I called his mom, she called my mom, my bro-n-law came to get him.  I explained to this what happen, the bro n law is trippin’ due to the stress he’s dealing with. and now this  .. I wiped the blood… I tried to put some ice on in but he kept moving his face (in a playful manner) . He really didn’t cry other than directly after the initial bite. but other than that he was still trying to mess with the dog so I put the dog in my brothers room and continued to allow him to watch Youtube videos  as i was doing prior to this happening.

Yeah I feel bad about it… but man..

I guess you can say that this is like a business trip for him because he’s gotta get some things straight with his car. then he’ll be back on the road to Houston.

This Morning was Fairly Shocking.

My Brother in-law got a call today letting him know that His Brother died in Bad Crash…  One that we all honestly heard of but overlooked. and it just so happens.  It was His Brother, Shocking…… Here’s the Article

 

Beneath that article were a few bad comments. the cousin & Mother of one of the female victims of this crash replied to one of the bad comments. basically telling folks to stop jumping to conclusions, assuming the worst possible case scenario..

I can respect them coming on defending that  because nola.com is full of Anonymous Members making blunt statements not knowing who’s reading.

to be honest, I don’t know his real name. but One thing I’ll Never forget about he was very respectful and even though he was my sisters in law he also referred to the rest of the Family as family as well…

Aight, Even though I didn’t see it all to a Friendly Distraction. I was able to make the most of tonight's show and say that It’s one of the better shows i’ve seen in the past 6 months.

I Didnt really get to Watch the Captain Lou memorial Video along with much of the the first hour  due to Wil coming over here. But I’m good.  I Laughed because Kofi started talking in his normal voice. I’m glad they’re finally Billing him from Ghana, Africa as well.  There were a number of good things about tonight’s show. Snoop Dogg was cool. he didn't do much but the segments were crazy…

I Think I just Found a Direct Link to my Past

So I’ve Been watching a Documentary for the past hour about New Orleans Religious Traditions, I don’t know how it started but they basically talked of The Connections Shared throughout  different races here in the city.

At first they were showing Things Catholics did.. which eventually went on to How The Catholics may have adapted Traditions Originally of the Native Americans.  At this point A man named Peter M. Cousin Sr. came on and he talked That particular thing. He spoke of his grandfather Osai (that may not be the spelling) Being Buried in a grave where Creole & Choctaw natives were buried.

At this point I called my sister because this man Looked like My People!.. he looks like my Grandfather. The thing about that is, from what I know is that my grandfather didn’t grow up in the Cousin household, He lived with the Camp family. and  Other than that, I don’t Know much about my dads racial lines because He has “Colored” on his birth certificate AND they dont talk about that Alot. therefore He and my fam grew up assuming they were totally Black.. My Grandma isn’t even Black.. LOL but hey It’s LIFE… All their Lives though They were called “Red Negros” .. I know my grandmother has Irish in her somewhere but Thats that. It doesnt make up the fact that I have that Choctaw in Me..

Long a Go I was told that We have Seminole in our blood, It may be Partly True but now I see where Choctaw Stands, This man Looked Just Like My Uncle Magoo, So I KNOW he’s a Direct link of Ancestry…

I Searched Google and i came Across This Link to a profile page of Peter M Cousin jr. on Northwestern State University’s website ..This speaks of P.M. Cousin Sr. Too.  I may have to Print this out! I may have to show that to my Dad. I haven’t met many of the folks on that side of my family…

but wow man. I have to Investigate! ..lol

You might say that’s alot. but it’s better than Nachos and Hot dogs…

I Also had Gumbo on the 8th, 9th… 10th and 11th..LOL yeah it was a HUGE pot, it’s not that many people living in this house…

 

as for today.. Nothing.. lol All this talk about food… I need to be sleepin’ For real..

Done with AVG, installs Microsoft Security Essentials

Today, I’m calling it quits with AVG,. I’ve been using AVG since 5.0 and it’s done me well on many occasions, I’ve recommended it many times. It has its hits and misses but It’s a good Free Product. The Paid Version of the application is probably much better. But Today, I’m calling It Quits…

Why? Did i Stop using it?… as I said Before.,Hits and Misses on Some of the Adware. Most Recently I Installed IObit Advanced System Care along with Security 360….. and Just like any other all-in-one Security & Maintenance  product it does a bit of everything.  you know, Registry defragging, Spyware Removal, PC Optimization, Some Firewall Protection, Process Scanners.. The Works!…

The problem is that The Spyware & Virus scanners only run Manually and are Ad Supported, which means There is no “Live Protection” …The good thing is that they do bit more than what AVG does when scanning..  Their Privacy Sweeper is a Knock of of CCleaner but it works perfectly with the 360 Product as a Problem solver.   Cool Products but as I said, They want you to Buy the Real-Time Protection.

 

If I Got Rid of  IObit 360 now It wouldn’t Matter because I now have the Microsoft Security Essentials Program which recently came out of Beta and has Real-Time Protection. What sucks is that Because of The MsMpEng.exe It Will Probably Eat up my Virtual Memory. With That Said. after about a 2 hour scan, I Stopped The MsMpEng process from Task manager and I had to Restart the scan because it Turned of The Product (duh) What a Waste of a scan.

I currently have it scanning now.  That Processor is used for OneCare Live as well as Windows Defender, I had it disabled prior to installing Microsoft Security Essentials because took up so much memory usage while running. But at the end of the day I have a product specifically built for my PC. (By the way, I’m currently on a Windows XP Desktop). 

 

With That Said. after about a 2 hour scan, I Stopped it’s Processor from Task manager and I had to Restart the program. What a Waste of a scan.. I currently have it scanning now.

Prior to this  I had the Trial of Microsoft Live OneCare. this current program although totally separate is supposed to be its successor. I believe that Microsoft will still sell its OneCare. That Product does WONDERS!. even with AVG on my pc, Doing a Free Scan at The Live Site  Found some security holes that blew my mind.. therefore Another good reason I just Traded AVG for a Microsoft Product.

I’ll Continue to use Microsoft Security Essentials as long as it does me well.  …from what i see, It’s doing what it’s supposed to do.

Yeah man,  My Brother will be getting the tickets tomorrow. Most likely these will be nosebleeds. and it’s mainly because They’re playing the New York Giants .. My Brother is a Giants fan..  I’m going to buy a Saints Jersey on purpose!

Last time I attended a Saints game I was in High School and I was part of the Half Time show with the New Orleans Public Schools All Star Marching band. we weren’t allowed to  actually watch with everyone else. but we  did have a special area designated for us to watch the game on TV.  folks like myself stood at the Tunnel Entryway. I remember the Rams game Thoroughly. LOL because during practice they came to walk across the field to head the locker rooms.  Marshall Faulk came to give the Carver students free shirts .. the rest of us just “looked on” ..lol because we couldn’t finish practicing til they got through with that..

Yeah I’m a saints fan, but to be honest. I’m not really a Football fan.. Not Really a fan of Ball Sports at all…. yes I’ve attended games, I know the players, I know the plays. I just can’t watch a Full game the true fans. 

I attend Black College Football games because that’s  more than a Football event. LOL This will be my first time paying for a saint’s game so I know these will be nosebleeds .. The only other time Outside of Performing at the games was a long time ago…lol

.. Like Pre Mike Ditka  ..lol

   As for me, yeah I’m a Wrestling Fan.. I feel like this though, If i know someone who Does it, I’ll support them. Thats just me.

Yeah, Had an OK Time

Folks were Reminiscing on some things.. Celebrating the lives of my Recently Deceased,I lost a Grandmother and a Cousin in 2007 My Grandma died around this time of year.  her birthday was in November I believe. Chanel would have been 23 today..  Something how a bullet can shorten the Life.. My Aunt grieved today just  thinking about that. But Life goes on. we all had a good time.

You never get over Deaths like that.   I had an Okay Time, The Memorial Cake was nice too. .. If it wasn’t for the Cross It would have looked like a wedding cake..

Man, Some folks need to learn forum etiquette

Aight, for the past 2 days I’ve been trying to keep posting useless entries down to a minimum. fortunately its going my way. but some of these folks have gotten to me.

One dude’s making threads that have long titles, and when you click in to the thread there’s little to say…

Another guy made 3 thread with the exact same intro. Basically Starting the discussion without giving insight on what they think.. They just ask “what happened"?” ..threads like that attract no one.

Why would you start a discussion without starting the discussion. It  just doesn’t make any sense to me…

Boombox Classic End Results according to The Marchingsport Community

Saturday was the big game between Southern and Jackson State.  As overly hyped as the game was. the end result as far as The Tape goes was just as anticipated So Marchingsport decided to Stream the full  game video yesterday via Ustream.TV.

There were Multiple Topics of discussion, But at the end of the day I see that Many people are saying that the bands were both just about even and that the event was boring this year.

I personally believe they felt this way because they’ve saw both bands many times do the things they do.  The game was not Exciting according to many .. I wasn’t at the game, I saw the footage online.  From the Zero to the 5th, these bands played back to back. From what I saw, There was no Wow Factor. These bands are just about Average this year.

I hear that the stadium wasn’t a sold out crowd,  Maybe SU fans didn't travel… ..maybe it was JSU supporters boycotting this game due to the hazing incident.  I read that The JSU drum section was barred from being flashy at games as part of their punishment for being involved in the Hazing incident. That’s understandable.

I wish I could have been there, My boy Tyrone said that he was called a Pervert for Videoing JSU’s Dancers. I had to laugh at that one because being a Photographer of these bands,You’d Know the big Double Standard when Filming Collage Dancers. If you’re a Straight man they will Call you a pervert, If you’re a Gay man people don’t mind, they just assume your just a fanatic.… I honestly don’t understand why they feel that way. but I look at it like this..  As a Bandhead & Fan of these bands, I Do It out of respect of the Craft… I feel the need to provide Footage so that the Bandheads can see themselves.   What ruins that are the people who just assume that you’re going to do Dirty work with this.  As for me. I usually get a Media Pass so that I can freely do as i please.

ight, So Yesterday after coming home from my nephews football game, I managed to pack in some good Hours of sleep.. Therefore Mission Accomplished. Although I woke up 3 times in the Process. LOL. 1 phone call, 1 because of the heat, the other was just random.
I Talked to My Older Brother about Getting a Job for a brief moment. I honestly think that Leows is the closes business I’d rather work for right now. I’ll look in to it. man It’s October..2009… I haven't worked since November 2007.. yeah I’ve made Money due to side hustles like Fixing Computers and things, but I need a job. So Yeah.. I’m going to do that!


What Did I do Yesterday?
I Went to my nephew football game, He plays for Lakeview Park, They played Kenilworth and Beat’em. I can’t remember the score though..LOL…. I might have to go to all his games now Due to folks wanting Pictures of their Kids. and they’re willing to pay for them. While i was Taking pictures. a at the game. I see that former Saint Pat Swilling is one of the Coaches of the team. It’s probably because His son plays too.  his wife was out there along with my sister making the most noise. I met her too. I had no clue who she was. somebody else told me.. I was like “oh” ..LOL!

Some folks asked me if I do photography, I said “Somewhat”.. I always say that because I don’t sell. and i really have no reason to right now. I honestly feel that I ain’t good enough right now.
seems like every time i leave the house Things become more interesting in my life..LOl
Oh, and i Might be going to the Jackson State vs Southern Game. Hopefully it happens.

Speaking of Jackson let me get into this Hazing Issue…

I discussed an Issue with an HBO representative Prior to the end result of this hazing case. this was going to be a first as it results to having a Band story on their sports pages.  He wanted a inside view of how things are. So I told him Much about the crabbing process works as compared to Getting your Letters within a Section. I gave him some insight on How I felt about this situation and why i don't like the putting  Emphasis on the term “Code of Silence” as it regards to these bands.

Their Is no code of Silence, why? In all respect to the band room The big Unwritten rule of band is, What goes on in the Band room stays in the band room.  and if it happens outside the band practice area.. or is visual to non members. That's when its no longer a band Matter, its just human conflict.
I asked him to Take a look at The Marchingsport Forums, Because that's where the code of silence Ends.  We as  Bandheads discuss these issues Publicly all the time In one location. if anybody were to see these things, they’d understand that we take this stuff Seriously..

I told him that There are some forms of hazing that Need to be Permitted motivational use.  Things such as General Crab Rules like “Don't walk on the grass, Shave your head.. Or general things in which Crabs are not allowed have the same freedoms as Upperclassmen. The Fact is that their is no reason to have someone Nearly Die to have a special rank in any band.. and that's where the story ends really.

Many of these guys Think it makes them stronger after they’ve been through getting whooped or going through something. They call new members weak if they cant handle The minor and General band things such as Push ups and other forms of Excursive. and just general peer pressure.  but their is no reason to just BEAT someone. yeah i keep saying it because its a waste..

General Description: Band Crabs, in Crab Gear in the rain.. by themselves. Upperclassmen have them  Humming Cadences while they squat in the rain..

  If you were Not in Band  You might say “This is Hazing” . But Its not a Bad hazing, Its Practice Procedures that just happened to take place in the rain. Yeah its a Form of hazing, but its also a form of preparedness.  and IMO its the kind of thing a bandsmen must experience because it gives them something Crazy to have as memories to their college years..  Yeah This pics is a MOVIE but it represents what I’m talking about.
I talked to this guy for like an Hour and i basically gave him the rundown that was Ironically stated in the Press conference which can be listened to here at Marchingsport.com (its the audio file)
