Oh The Hit Out has been made!

Wow man, ever since this battle of the bands, N.O’s Alumni band has been the Talk of the South.

Houston wants a piece and so does Memphis. We’ve been getting phone calls all day about it. it’s even written up on facebook and Bandhead.org by band directors themselves. it’s funny. but I’m glad it’s working and going in the right direction.

This is Great! I’m still making and receiving phone calls. hopefully we can make this happen.

That Trip Home was crazy though

Aside from snapping pics of sleepers and sitting on that cooler. Our bus broke down. we were in Beaumont for 6  Hours at a rest stop.

I should have taken more pictures but one was good enough. that was a Freedom Riders bus ..lol

and the bus they sent for us was the exact same model. just with better seats.. the worst part was folks fighting for seats or making a big deal of everything.

you had people taunting the driver as well as folks doing things they shouldn’t have been doing anyway.  there was also one guy who came on the trip who did absolutely nothing.  sad…

 

We made it back to N.O. sometime after 1. between that time i facebooked via my blackberry with random pics of folks sleeping. and I texted up with my girl J.. boy do I miss her.

the sad part is that all the folks who didn’t show up or doubted us  keep calling me. I’m tired ..lol I ain’t awake yet! lol the clips are online stop waiting for ME to put out the footage. I ain’t in a rush. lol.  ya know..

We went there and good house.. I’m Good! Now Houston wants to do an Alumni Band as well so they can come at us.. thats cool ..lol

I went there and enjoyed myself. therefore I’m well. All i need to do is put up some money. order me some cards and get myself together on that note

And The Band is Back from H-Town

Man oh Man!, That was a CRAZY TRIP!. The worst part about it was coming back to NO. The best was the fact that I got to see  and records some great performances.
The clip above is the end result of the trip... but BOY do I have a STORY!.. LOL
Saturday morning we all made it to the Fischer, it was about 8am, that's the time they asked us to be there/ after assuming we'd practice a halftime show 1 good time... but nah.. Time passed, and at 10 o'clock. The Worst Charter Bus or Earth comes to pick us up... It was way too packed, we had some folks to come in their own vehicles, that's just how bad it was

Aside from Being Over Capacity, We had broken seats, on the way I was in one that went far back like a recliner, the bad part is.. it was like that from the jump.   Just terrible man... We managed to make it to Delmar Stadium in Houston at about 5:30. once the battle began, everything was cool/

Despite doing a showe, spectators loved our band, I chilled in the press box to record the field portion of the battle. Before it officially got started though I went to catch up with folks who were in the band with me at TSU, many were staffers with GHASB's band. I even spotted folks from other colleges who  are members of bandhead.org. I even connected with folks I've ment via facebook and other events.

I even spoke with a band director i'd call a Legend, I wont mention his name but he's made his mark in Louisiana with a band in Lake Charles, LA.  It's an Honor to know that he knew me, spoke of me as if I'm an Icon or something., It makes me feel good.

Yeah man, I’ll be recording the bands as they compete in this evenings battle of the bands. hopefully this trip will be 100% great with no problems

We’re going on a charter bus. it’s gonna be crazy!.. yeah i said it.. A charter bus .. as in .ONE ..lol the band is small but hey, they pack heat. My cams are ready. but I’m not.  so at this time I’ll be signing off. I’ll probably hit up twitter or something while on the road. but that’s all. I’m Tweethappy like some folks are. I’d rather write complete blogs. lol

Finally A New Pair Of Magnum Boots

My First Pair in 4 years. .. FINALLY… while in Living  Houston I bought some Magnums of the  Stealth series. This time I got the Magnum Viper II with the Zipper on the side. at first i didn’t care for the zipper thing but I realized the value of it after trying on the shoe.

I love the way they fit. It’s fairly Comfortable. I bought them at Academy Sports & Outdoors, In Harahan  Prior to that I saw them for a higher price at  The Sports Authority, I would have gotten the smaller shoe, but I came there for Boots, That’s what I wanted.

With That said, I went over to Walmart in Hopes to finding Dickies in my size. Instead I ran across a pair of those Mechanix Gloves I’ve been trying to get for so long.  I’m glad I have’em now.  At the same time, I still haven’t found my pants!! lol I need to go to Soul Train and get some Dickie Fits Before Saturday!  … Why? well, For the Battle in Houston that’s why!. I got the Okay to record in the press box so I’m Good!

Back to the Boots

I like these boots because they’re comfortable and could be worn with anything just about.  I wore my Stealth II’s as Marching Boots.. those were like Police boots too.  In Academy there were many other brands though, I had no desire to get them… I almost DIDNT get the boots.. glad i did though.. I’m Good for now.

Those Ordinances Should Be Changed

After reading much about the new ordinances put in place by city government as a way to stop street entertainers from performing at night. .along with watching This Video of  NOPD shutting down TBC Brass Band.  I listened to everything the officer stated and i understood it clearly. He came to have them all sign a receipt stating that they acknowledge the ordinances.. He wanted to assure that they are knowledgeable of these regulations. so that they wont be surprised if they were Written up for Violating The Ordnances.

Prior to that… in these words after a Bandsmen asked about the enforcement The Officer implied 

“alot of Complaints..We’ve got a New Mayor, New Police Chief and a New City Council and Every bodies got Something to prove […] Alot of people have been complaining about it […] We’re not Selectively Enforcing the Law” ….

I’ve Touched on the subject in complaints in an earlier entry. but at this point. After a general analysis of those statements. it seems as though they are Targeting street entertainers because they (those in power) don’t really understand the significance of of street entertainment  Therefore they ARE Selectively Enforcing the Law. Apparently those complaints neighborhood Residents which are Minority of the Quarters and does not represent it’s Non Residential areas.

The Officer Told them

“You Don’t Have to Take them Lying Down; We have Elected Officials, Law Enforcement. All I’m doing is Enforcing the Law.,,,  City Council, a Legislative branch of the Government. They Make These Laws, Just because they make them does not mean they are submitted in stone, they could amend them

at this point. Lisa Responds “We’ll Take It there”

The Officer Mentions That Unlike the Officers patrolling the Area, He was Specifically assigned to take upon duties of issuing out The Notices as well as assuring that those rules are being followed. He also Stated that If the guys wanted can schedule a meeting with the District Commander if they’d like.

This officer basically told them the Laws of the land, which was a great thing and The guys even agreed to accept the paperwork once the everything was explained. With that said, Although this particular officer did not force them to sign the paperwork, He insisted that they should adhere to the notion prior to Leaving the scene.

As the Officer Stated.. They Don’t have to take it lying down…

….We have gotten that just by watching the People Protest In the streets as well as Write blog entries Such as this one. in favor of street entertainers in the past week. Our voices are being heard. The Quarter’s Majority, consist of people who work in the area they love the Street Entertainment too. Like Explained in Articles such as the one about HBO’s Treme at CNN. when people come to New Orleans, it’s what they Expect and It’s part of what Makes New Orleans Unique.

With All of that being said.  After Reading up on alot of these ordinances   I’ve decided to get in my Mode of critical analysis which prompted me to do this…

It may seem Crazy on My part.. but i HAD  Break it down in a Similar Fashion of The Codes

Ordinances by definition are resolutions of public injunction,  Although they are established By Law. They are Not Laws and shall not be accepted Nor Enforced as laws. Why? They are Represented by Codes. A Code is Not A Law.

Those Codes represent whatever The Government chooses Control. The Government can not enforce a code because a code is not a law. As a registered citizen of the City of New Orleans, We have the right to demand that the definition of the code be changed.  We can March in Protest and Express our rights as Citizens,

Unfortunately Local Government does not have to accept any proposals made by it’s citizens. Why? because they are in control. Although we vote to put those Officers in place. we can not vote for Ordinances to pass They  are chosen by Decision of the Council’s Majority. Those Codes Generally Used as The Concept of Their Authority. Because of it. They will Enforce what they Can Control.  As Citizens They Can Restrict Our Liberties as they please, but Only if that Restriction is a Law. Otherwise we can not be detained in violation.

It's unlawful to Arrest anyone doesn't choose to abide by a Code. An Officer can only insist that you follow the rules or move to another location. Otherwise  they can issue citation as part of an intimidation factor in hopes that you are submissive in following their laws.. That in itself will probably be a Simple warning. or even a court summons which you may have to pay a fine.

No Representative of The Governing Body such as a police officer can force you to sign a any contracts stating that you acknowledge an ordinance as a Law.  If you do so , You have given them the Consent to arrest you in violation of The Law.

We Do Not have to accept these Codes nor Abide by the regulations in which they represent.. but Unfortunately by birth we're registered Citizens of the corporate ward we call New Orleans, LA. and As long as we are, under it's jurisdiction all ordinances apply to us. Whereas they also apply our to Wardens.  But Due to the fact that Our Wardens are responsible for Managing the city. They take it upon themselves to  Use Their System against Us.

The Regulations are in place as a Means to limit the liberty of Civilian Citizens.  By Law, Citizens have the right to oppose of City ordinances.  After All, They are not Laws.

 

With that said… Can somebody correct me on some of these issues?… because to be honest, all of that was just written off the back of my head. simply based on general knowledge of  common law.  so correct me if I’m wrong.  But I’m just calling it like I see it.

It’s a Strong possibility that City Council will take in to consideration ruling partly in favor of street acts. they will likely (and i hope they) Come to an agreement which allows the bands to play between 8pm and 6pm.  

If I had any say so over the whole ordeal. I would suggest that they be allowed to play  on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  Including Federal Holidays, sporting events and Festivals whether local or National.  It would make perfect sense. to allow them to play past 8. One Those days, when Tourism is Booming, They become spectacles of everything New Orleans has to offer.  The TBC Brass Band Has been Welcoming Visitors To The Bourbon Street Entrance For Many years and are appreciated for there work.  .. But The Law Says Otherwise.

A Weird in a Dream I Had

The Other day, I Dreamt that I was at The Classic BOTB but I was unable to Record. due to a security check outside of a restroom.

we all know how dreams go.. they jump from place to place .. so Just imagine being in an airport the whole time.

Aight… Here’s it from the BEGINING!..

I was with the fam on my way to the the Classic Battle with all my credentials  there was a point where i couldn’t get through the crowd.. I looked to my Left and there were the Dolls waiting for a photo.. but I had misplaced my camera. By the time I got it. the girls were walking up to the staging area. Note: all this is happening at an airport in an amphitheatre / auditorium setting…

At this point I rushed to the viewing level only to still be awaiting the bands.   The Bands were a NO Show. but the dancers were there on stage..  Due to a lack of seating i went to walk around a little bit …

I stopped to talk to folks I knew as well to see family. from  there I went to the restroom…  Inside this restroom there were no toilets but Wall Urinals. It looked like something from inside the Starship Enterprise.  the urinal not only spoke to you, but it purified waste at the push of a button.   Yet it was more like (brace yourselves) .. Urinating on a wall…

LOL.. Okay okay…  So I leave out of this restroom and THERE WAS SECURITY!.. what were they there to do? …They Checked m for metals.. and  at that point he saw that i had what appeared to be a (brace yourselves once again) a 20 ounce Bottle of Urine… in which i had thrown out as soon as i realized what it was…  But Security saw it and asked me to step to the side while they get Paperwork together to charge me with something they compared to transmitting an STD.

At this point I waited and waited as  The Battle went on..  So I’m standing there angry because I’m missing out ..soon after I received the paperwork from the security desk, I read what consisted of Numerous Fines Due to Violating the law in regard to holding a bottle of urine…I looked at the cost. which was about $1800……… at that point I Woke up…

LOL.. What Kind of CRAZINESS IS THAT?!..

Just imagine being stopped by security at an airport on the Starship Enterprise while missing one of the biggest events of the year.. OH NO!! lol Madness.

Aside from that.  my condolences to the families of the four folks who lost their lives. in the crash.

CCleaner Works Wonders

Aside from this being an entry out of boredom.  I am Always pleased by the works of the CCleaner program. I’ve been using it since version 1. back when it was called Crap Cleaner. I’ve since then it’s become very popular.

It cleans  everything you see to the right. including Startups,  Installed programs and some other things.

it also cleans up your registry. Just a bit though. No Registry Cleaner is perfect. but it works… i had to clean up the registry myself earlier to reinstall Roxio Creator.

But… yeah, like i said.. CCleanere Works Wonders.
I just did a cleaning this morning and removed 4Gigs of crap… most if that actually being stuff I sent tp the recycle bin recently. but hey, I’m good.. lol

Why should honest club owners be ripped off & undercut by these rogue bands who play for free, without permits or gigs or any regulation? I guess it's fine to put all the bars and clubs out of business.

Jackie Clarkson, your city needs you again! This rip-off situation with bands playing out in the open on the sidewalk reminds me of how the artist situation in Jackson Square used to be: Willy-nilly, with unpermitted and unregulated artists hawking their wares, a total lack of control and oversight

After reading this, it makes me cringe. you shouldn’t need a permit to perform in the french quarters. to my knowledge this anywhere else in the city permits were always needed and  the only time a permit was not needed is if there were police escorts. but this is the French quarter area  Permits shouldn’t be needed for street acts unless those street acts are within range of a residential area. and NOBODY lives on the corner of Bourbon.

These Street Performers are not hurting anyone, and  with Jazz being very much what this city has to offer. what Is New Orleans Jazz without Jazz on the Streets? There are many bars and night clubs that play their music EXTREMELY LOUD on bourbon. Why cant a Brass Band Play on a Street that’s speaks the nightlife of New Orleans.

I hope next we can sort out and enforce the permit situation for all the trashy street performers that take up space on Royal St., distracting and bothering shoppers. There should be mandatory drug testing to get a permit to perform, it shouldn't be so cheap that any yahoo can afford it, and those without permits should go to jail! Now that we have a better class of person in office, it's time we CLEAN this CITY UP!

Let’s say they start enforcing the permit laws. this would force bands like TBC or even some Tap Dancing Kid to go to City Hall and basically Rent performance time for every day they perform.  that’s unnecessary. As for the drug tests. just like one person who commented via Nola.com said…  Check all the Albums you own and then ask how many of those musicians have taken a drug test prior to performing? .. Many of them no-mater what race have used drugs.  Do you Need a Permit to play that music in your car? NO…

 

How about Eliminating The Exotic Dancers from Dancing outside their strip club doors? How about Eliminating Lucky Dog Carts? How about Eliminating Mardi Gras? .. Or Music in Vehicles… this person’s saying the city “clean it up”  as if it’s a crime to play music on the streets..

so, after a talk with one of his managers, Rafe gave me a call to ask me to take the second video down for now.. he’ll let me know when to post it back up when things pull through. he’s got some big time labels looking at him and he doesn’t want to mess that up.

The Wild part is that there’s no beef, just access confusion over mic time.  you had too many people hogging the mic.  aside from that it was all good.

but I took that down for saftey reasons. it’s still on. just set to private.

It was a Night to Remember. I’m glad I captured that.. At the end of the day There was no Beef though. it was all good. .. Just too many people hogging the mics..

According to This letter from the City. There shall be no Street Entertainment after dark.  what kind of BS is that? For bands like TBC it’s the only hours they can perform.

Maybe I’ll have to do some State code research other than that those codes shouldnt apply in New Orleans’ French Quarter  UNLESS  in the Living eras of the Quarters. otherwise  It’s Night Life.. why the Quiet Time on Bourbon?…

That’s all I have to say about that.

Police just came and shut TBC down again. They are giving street musicians enforcement letters with the mayor and police chiefs name on them and asking for signatures in acknowledgment. Tourists and spectators were angered and horrified.

About time I got back to this…

Today, I’m blogging about my weekend. why? because even though I only went out friday. The whole thing was fun due to my interest in it. Infact. I’ll start somewhere within the week leading up to it….lol

So yeah. Last week was a Hustle, I had DVD’s to make for the reunion. I got that done and they played all night Friday. .. I didn’t attend the picnic nor other club night because it was.. Too Much really.. but I did manage to get some footage in.

I got there Early so I didn’t have to play.. That was GREAT!. Security took my cam.. until everybody started coming in.

There was a Band suit there. the old Banner. a Ribbing session that turned into alot of confusion. .. A Brass band. EVERYTHING. I couldn’t make a DVD due to time restraints but I can.. maybe next week though…

Man I talked to folks I haven’t seen since high school that was a great thing. and it wasn’t even MY reunion. LOL. but shew man I’m good I had fun and didn’t spend a DIME. ..lol

I spent this week snapping pics of alot of females ..lol all i can say is that The world as changed and  the people have just about stayed the same. LOL  I realize though that many of the females who seemed to be the stuck up type high school seemed to be the coolest ones there. 

There was alot of Tattooed and pierced up people there.  It was great. I wanted to go to the picnic but it rained. I saw pics they were great.  

Since then I’ve been getting facebook requests and everything. Bonose did his video. I added some videos. I’ll post in the next  Blog post. I’m good.

Shouts out to the Class of 2000 Reunion Committee.  also and those Before and Beyond… Including MY CLASS of 2002.. JFK .. as real as it gets…

Aanother feature google added and it's cool. but I guess it's because I'm on chrome. I got on today and I saw what looked like that Oil Leak on my Google home page, so i scrolled down only to realize that in the left corner it allowed me to change or upload a picture.  That's cool.

I didn't think it was that serious

So I got to practice yesterday late. they were talking bout the things that have been holding them back. I didn't realize that part of it was about something that had happened earlier. So I got there. and they were just talking of how folks want to have it their way and are not there enough to even do their part.  The other half was when Black got up there and stated what he had to say..

Afterwards he asked me to come outside because someone told him that I had been talking about him .. i guess in a bad way as if i had something against him. I  laughed because thought it was funny.... I have nothing against that dude.  I was in there. Ribbin' and Joking with the other tuba players Saturday saying he teaches like his old Band Director... I told him that when he asked and I even put it on Facebook tagging him  But somebody took it serious for some reason.. I know who it was. but wow that was unnecessary..He said that he hadn't been on Facebook that weekend so he didn't see.. I just told him that it was still up.. I have nothing against him. the dude is Great at what he does.

So practice goes on For the remainder of night.. I got home to finish up on some projects.. stood up til 7 only to be awaken at 12... I got a call from Perry; He told me that He had a fight with Charles.. Why...Well..Charles was just talking about things at the beginning of the practice & Perry took everything personal and he got upset and they got into a fight that was broken up. All of this because Perry wants to have it his way.

I told perry that  we have to play Something old and new. Not just to crank, but that's what everyone wants to do. and that's holding the band back... Perry is one of the people who wants to do that.  and to be honest. the only reason he wanted to march was because he knew all those bands were going. That's kinda crazy though man.

As for me, I didn't have a problem. I felt kinda stupid being that the Black really asked me to step outside.. I'm not gonna fight the dude.like Perry did. I had no clue that had accoured. even if he would have If'ed I wouldn't have allowed it. I can't do that. it's unnecessary. But to be honest. . I think it was Cool of him stop me and ask if i did have a problem. ya know..

Ahh Man what’s up with this

so again my nephew is here. Today I’m trying to relax, not run after a baby again.  Yesterday After I came from Practice they did me that. They all went out and I was stuck here watching a baby.  All after I came back from practice.. Come on now man. whats up with this?

I woke up with a bad feelin in my stomach…  and it still feels that way…
they just dropped him off.. he saw me, but just like they do. I’m closing my door this time.

My Nieces never watch the lil dude.. they go in other rooms, close the doors and I watch him. today I’m closing locking my door. they’re always just opening it and letting The Noise come in my room while im trying to sleep. Let him bother them today. If somebody wants to go out tonight I’m leaving… just like they do.  even tho my stomach is hurting.  I’m not trying to watch that boy. Nor am i Making the rest of them Nachos.. I’m Tired of that..

Quitting would be senseless on his part.

My Older Brother has been working with the same company for a while. The company changed management and are not taking the Company Vehicles away to save money. My brother feels that they’re targeting him though because of an accident he had on the job.  which isn’t the case at all, They’re taking them from everyone.

Now He’s upset that he’s going to have to catch the bus to work. He estimated that it will be $1500 a year and that he’d be losing money rather than making money.  at this point he feels like the Job is cheating him out of money. 

Note: this dude saves nearly every penny he gets but is too stingy to buy himself a car. He has enough to buy a brand new Car, but he feels that the cars that are being sold aren’t good enough. He wants something like a Mini Van as he had pre Katrina. They don’t make those like they used to.

As much as he talks about how much he makes & manages amongst us, He doesn’t realize that he’s holding himself back. at least my cousins and other family who do have a decent income has the sense to enjoy what they have.  This dude just goes to work and home, every now and then he goes to a family gathering or to an event like WWE.  That’s cool but dang man  you gotta live a little more.

I know I’m a homebody but dang If I had a Job any job. I'd be enjoying the money I have. While saving and spending appropriately. I don’t even have one and I know exactly what I’d be doing when i get one.  I’m not gonna be Selfish with my earning i know that much.

I wouldn’t be trying to quit a job just because I’m upset with the way things are going. I’d just do my part. make the money and move on. He feels that if he catches the bus he probably wouldn’t work as hard knowing that he has to go back home dirty.. come on man It’s Life… LIVE!!

This is why I gotta start ..lol .. He’s coming here today. at 6 Im leaving I know he’s gonna be wondering where I’m at. but that’s on him because I’ll just walk out … I’m heading to this practice. around that time.

We were part of a Blog site’s forum for a hot minute before adding each other to fb that’s how i know her… … *Drool* She’s a Sexy Beast! The coolest part is that we have no other mutual friends ..LOL

It’s like her, Dennis Hopper and Gary Coleman together make up for Decades of Work in Hollywood. I mainly remember Her and Gary for being on 80’s TV shows that aired throughout the 90’s. 

It’s wild because I said Last year that I wasn’t going to be doing too many Famous death entries.But it’s wild because these are like the people in your neighborhood.

I’m Good With It.

So Yesterday Morning I got a Message via Bandhead.org from a Former Doll named Synae’. I was like Wow, because I didn’t really know her by name, i knew her face and that she was a standout dancer in her time on the squad and  that’s all.

She sent me a letter of appreciation as well as writing it publically on the forum to both Me and Chelsea, when I saw that I sent Chelsea a Text like “We Got Cool Points With Synae’” LOL
at first I  questioned if it was the real her. (because there were  impostors of folks in the past ) …I went to the facebook page to make sure.  .. Yep it was her!

After reading her message, I replied letting her know who I was and the reason i take part in those dance forum discussions. I appreciated it just as much as she appreciated being mentioned there.

The wild part is that I’d assume that the doll fanatics would run to the site and praise her. but i guess they’re all “away” being that tryouts are Friday. so they’re all Quiet.. next week its gonna be HECTIC though.

Shew Man, I’m good with it. Makes me feel good..lol Cool Points for me.
