Glad to Know He Can See Again…

And Lord Willing, Lets hope he never becomes visually impaired again! Thank God for Rafa’s Recovery.

Last Monday a man by the name of Rafael Dilgadello was at a stop sign minding his own business when two men approached him with guns. While trying to drive away, he was shot in the head, causing him to not only crash but to Temporarily lose his vision.  For a week although that was certain, it is now Clear that He has regained his sight. and I hope he regains it at 100%.

After watching the news and reading that articles, I was saddened by the situation. yet now I’m glad to know that he’s recovering just fine. I don’t know Rafa personally, but 'after posting the early morning articles about it on my facebook page. a few folks who knows him personally gave me updates on him at that time. I would have blogged about it then, but everything was occupying my time.

I’ve been to his facebook page reading the many comments and links to articles in support of him. The most recent one was his dad announcing that Rafa’ could see again. That made me smile, yet it makes me sad still to know that a man such as Himself would get caught up in a terrible situation… The greatest thing is that HE IS STILL HERE! .. THANK GOD FOR THAT!

It’s Sad when a man has to go through things like that living in the city of New Orleans. Every time I hear of something like this, It makes me not want to be here.. Yet we can’t live our lives in fear either.  I also hate the fact that when Things like happen, folks get on nola.com painting every victim in a bad light…  In this situation We could have lost him. yet I’m glad he’s survived.

Just When I Thought I’d Get This Phone Thing Straight.

I get Reverted and Reverted again… Well now that my issue is solved I might as well go ahead and do that. The sad part is…. I forgot.

Saturday I called T-Mobile to ask if they could turn off The Data Services on my phone. I was told that due to my Contract with the service, they can not do that. they could only switch the plan if I upgraded the phone.  I explained that I no Longer wanted Data services simply because I don’t care for browsing the internet on phones. as well as, there are no Cool apps that make this phone any good.  Overall, I’d rather have a cheaper bill… That was the end of that Conversation.

So Yesterday I decided to call up T-Mobile Again to tell them of the other Issue. It was a person with a foreign accent I couldn’t quite catch but she was very kind. the problem is, I had to explain to her over and over that The power button on my Keypad does not work properly. Technically I caused the confusion by saying too much.  about the issue, but I figured she’d understand better if I explained the whole situation.

I told her these things…

• My Power Button does not work
• Holding It down sometimes makes the phone go completely off
• I’m Currently using some random Samsung Phone because I want to know if I can Get the services turn off…

When She Responded … She Wanted to know If I had Any Other Phones that Had Data usage because I can use It… I told her that I have an old blackberry but I had problems with It prior to updating…  Then she asked me if I was currently Using the Blackberry … AHHHH NO..lol..

So She Put me on Hold to se what she can do… .. That Was Nothing ofcourse ..lol ..
Then she came back only to put me on hold again as she transferred me to someone else in technical support.

I talked to the woman In Tech Support, and explained my issue. We Rebooted my Phone as troubleshooting measure. The only thing wrong with that is, I did that before and it had nothing to do with my Issue. So I asked if I could get the phone Fixed or replaced.. She said they don’t cover HTC Phones…. She Gave me HTC’s number..

I Called HTC., Tech Support answered. I told her what was wrong with my phone and who my service provider was.  She explained that they could Fix my phone Free of charge if only I faxed some Data regarding Propf of Purchase (I forgot exactly what it was). but basically, it would allow HTC to fix my phone free of charge…  I was like .. OKAY I’ll try doing that ASAP….

Did I try?… No Because I forgot what it is I was supposed to be trying to get from T Mobile.  I’ll see about doing that and maybe they’ll fix my phone… Other than that. The easy thing to do would be to go to a T-Mobile place and show them that my button is broken, maybe they’ll just give me a phone there… THAT seems to be the smarter thing to do.

Overall,  I mainly just wanted to downgrade my service.. unfortunately I’ll have to ate til next January to do that… at least for a free one. .. otherwise I’d be breaking Contract.

At the end of the day, I’m satisfied with Knowing….

My Nephew act like he cant comprehend sometimes ..LOL… We have paper plates .. yet he open the dishwasher where dishes are washing to get a bowl…  I heard him opening the washer so I said “I hope you’re using a paper plate” . He replied “I Have One” … so I went in the Kitchen and asked him why didn’t he use a paper plate. He said “I forgot” … smh… I told him that he better wash his bowl too. because he doesn’t clean up behind himself.

an hour before that I asked him to get the cream milk.. he said “I don’t know what that is” … WHAT?!!! SMH!!  dude’s 12….. smh...

Overall he has no sense of home training.. he just responds with a smart remark as if its all okay. but he gets mad and think we’re picking on him for no reason when we yell at him…  smh, he’ll learn one day…..

I wish I would have paid more attention to it.

I’d say that for a while now, I had known of the Troy Davis case. but in the past 3 days it actually became widely know of what was going on  I wish I would have paid more attention to this case earlier. Just state more on how I feel about it.

Troy proclaimed it till the moment he was put executed. Folks were Praying and  hoping for a halt, It was only delayed for a few more hours though..smh.. folks even hoped for Obama would step in to stop it. Maybe he could have said something to halt it, but its likely that it would have upset many people. due to similar situations in the past where presidents haven't granted any clemency.

It’s wild man, The Folks have fought to keep him alive and just when the world began to watch, The State of Georgia decides to Kill him.  Injustice Is a Weapon of Mass Destruction.  I hope the people of Georgia fight to Stop the death penalty in their state because it’s been an injustice to the innocent.

I also hope that they look deeper in to the case to find the truth. It’s very much possible that the killer of that officer is still out on the streets living his life.  Although it’s too late to save Troy Davis’ Life. To actually have troy be found Innocent long after this date would  make His loss and even greater one.  9/21/11 Now Marks the date of a National Tragedy. Troy Davis was never PROVEN Guilty.  That’s Messed Up…

It’s something I wanted to say….

But I forgot what it was… So I’m gonna be random with this one.

• Now That The Cats out of the bag, I guess We have rights to talk openly about them.. lol
• My Body’s been Aching, I would blame playing the horn, but it’s the time of the year where the summer meets autumn, and when it it gets cold, pain happens in my spine and left leg. It happens but I can deal with it.
• I’m thinking about trading in some old games. including a pc game. I may trade Saints Raw 2 PC for the New SR3 on Xbox. or even sell some Ps2 games.
• I don’t play xbox but I might as well support my brothers system..LOL
• My Cousin bought a laptop from the pawnshop. it seemed to work fine, but the power gave out on her in 2 days. the sucka was greatly built yet it had a bad mother board. smh  she got her money back today.
• Oh I finally got paid from that PC fix I did earlier this month. I’m good
• I still need to cash a check
• Yeah man, I’m happier now.
• The JSU SU game was today.. well yesterday.. Watch the mess… smh..

Where Was I when Tupac Died?

I was in 7th Grade at my Jr. High's Back to School Dance. The Theme of the dance was "Picture Me Rollin". When the DJ announced that Pac Died,  that Room became dead. We even had cats cryin' like they knew him. The very next day all the "Alive" Rumors started.what made it worse what that Everybody in the nation started being a Tupac conspiracy theorist, analyzing his past and future videos and lyrics for answers on where he could be. .. it was all in magazines and everything...

Hail Mary and I ant Mad At'cha were Spooking folks out. The stupid part is Because of the conspiracy surrounding his death and new album, folks waited 7 years for Pac's Return.  "They got NOTHING"... Just imagine. this all started before black folks had the internet...lol   aside from that .. his music had folks shouting Killuminati,  Illuminati & Makavelli like they understood what Pac was talking about ...smh..lol,

I guess now that they finally accepted the fact that he's dead they're all saying "RIP Tupac"  even folks who were Toddlers when Pac Died... as if they where fans of him when he was alive (same as Left Eye and Aalliyah fans)… Not saying they don’t deserve the respect but I look at the age ranges of the folks who have these things on their pages and wonder what possessed them to give these shootouts.

I was 12 years old when Tupac died..  and since then, I realized that Tupac & Biggie's Impact on Hip hop is probably the main reason they get these Death commemorations . Yet. you never hear anybody saying RIP Easy-E . maybe it's because he died of AIDs..  yet he had a big influence on hip hop as well... The Main folks that gave him a shout out was my favorite rap group. and that's Bone Thugz In Harmony...

Tupac has no real Impact on my life, Maybe on How I remember Him as it relates to his impact on music, but I really think its crazy how He as well was other artist get their Rest In Peace shout outs from folks who started listening to their music After there death.  Yet there are countless others who Don’t get the same kind of Respect on a mass scale..  an Example would be Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway & Jackie Wilson. they died before I was born. yet they don’t get the same kind of commemorative celebrations..

same as Berry White or Rick James …Although Rick James had a new found fame prior to his death. but he doesn’t get the annual Celebrations like  Pac or BIG.  Folks treat them like they’re kings of the world, and all they had to do was get Shot for it.

Had a great Time at the park yesterday!

JFK alumni were in full effect at the picnic. I enjoyed myself. talking to old faces. meeting new folks who were technically old faces and talking about old times!  former teachers and faculty were there. It was a beautiful day overall!

The Band played, and  Doc Cried his heart out! it was a beautiful thing. I have footage that I didn’t tape. I let someone record for me. I don’t know how the footage looks because I haven’t seen it but I did tell him to keep it rolling the whole time ..LOL

I was happy, I got connected to Lance once again, this cat has an IMDb profile. basically he’s wanted to work with me on getting a documentary film together and hopefully getting HBO behind it. sounds great.  hopefully it works in our favor.  Hopefully we can get folks involved who would want to take part in something like that..

GAME DAY!

Well, Picnic Day to be exact. Today I’ll be at Joe Brown park at the JFK Picnic I hope The turnout is great. I have a feeling that folks will be out there and all over the place. I’ll be there from 1 to the time it’s over. hopefully things go smoothly. I’ll try to get video too. Hopefully I’ll get somebody to record for me.

Man I have Carron’s shirt I’ve been holding it all week. I was hoping he’d show up to practice. Speaking of that. I got to get ready. I’m leaving for about 1..

Aside from that.

I have to figure out how to make torrents work so I can share footage. either that or attempt uploading certain things to media fire. or mega upload for that matter.

I’m No Bible Thumper

But I do Believe in the word of God.  The Bible is one of the tools that taught me right from wrong, and I can’t stand to see when folks use the bible as a tool to teach that which it evil.   It’s like being cheated out of the truth, or growing up and living a le.

If you’re going to teach the word of god, please do it with a good heart. and please be knowledgeable of what is represented within the bible. There are many misguided people who are seeking Christ but don’t want to go about it the right way.

Twisting The Word

I’ve always heard of folks using the bible for their own good, twisting the word in their favor. I also know that there are fraternities who use the bible as a stepping stone in to their frat. they claim their orgs are founded on the bibles principals but when you look deeper, you find that they only use the bible as part of their methods of brainwashing their members. Undercover Religions Cults. The sad part about it is, many of them don’t realize it, all they know is that they’re in frat.. and only did it to fit in or to claim something.

I do have a feeling that somebody won’t like me bringing this stuff up. They’ll probably even question me about this post or maybe stop talking to me (or reading my blog) because of what I’m going to say here. see, I associate with people who are part of these groups. some are close to best friends. the only difference is, I’m not fraternally connected to them as they may be with their other associates. 

With that said… Basically, I was on the page of a friend of mind who’s a member of a frat who uses religion as their foundation and motivation.   well, in the past few weeks  this friend has posted Bible Verses on her Facebook page. most folks would commonly think that she’s just being spiritual …yet The verses she’s been posting are all generally tied to their masonic teachings. For them, it’s like self empowerment or a level of fraternal communication and persuasion.   Over all. They’re twisting the context of the bible  to make themselves appeal to it…

I’ve said all of that to bring you to a direct example using one of the quoted verses I saw.

Matthew 6:22   (King James version)
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

Great Verse. Yet it’s not Complete until you add the Next Verse which a person who believes in Fraternal Light will not approve of.  Why? simply because they’re light Fits the very next description.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Why wasn’t this part of her status? Why didn’t she complete it? maybe it’s because the light that guides her is not a good light at all.  The masonic references like “Eye Be Single”  which in other words represents the all seeing eye in their terminology. same as Light being  Their fraternal knowledge.
The irony of it would be the VERY NEXT verse which says.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

What’s crazy is that, they’re deliberately serving two masters, whether they know or not, They’re using The as to make their frat look good. Putting their fraternal beliefs before The One and True God. If you bring this to their attention they’ll get mad because it’s not something they can defend.   They’re Spreading Darkness disguised as light what they’re doing.

Lucifer Himself was a bearer of light, He was an ANGEL with EVIL in his heart Therefore His Light was Equal to Darkness and was the reason he was casted out of The heavens.

I told my Boy Benjamin about this. His thought was “Good catch” .. Josiah said “I never thought of it that way” .. I myself am A thinker I look in to these kind of things.

It’s likely somebody’s going to shun me for this, but I had to say it.. Folks are misguided by the spirit of evil. ..But then again. aren’t we all?

Evaluation of Self

 

I’ve Found myself evaluating as well as redefining my online persona. why? simply because I’m trying to shake the Silent Haters off. Why do I call them Silent haters… well. those are the ones who are all for you while in your space. but behind closed doors they talk badly about you as if you did them something wrong.

They think they know me, but they’ve been caught slipping. that’s not a good thing. And being that I see nearly everything. they do. as well as having Access to lots of things. I’ve come to terms with the image that I believe that they perceive of me.

There fore I consider myself “The Book” … It’s been my Nickname for a while now. but understanding why I chose to Change it from Bookman, to Book makes perfect sense.. For one.. The name Bookman was my high school crab name… I hated it, It was like being mentally hazed… but eventually I accepted it and it technically shaped who I am as a person today…

Originally the Reference was of a Character from The TV show Good Times. simply because folks said I looked like him… The name came with all kinds of unnecessary duties but It was me… Eventually after becoming Popular, it was the only name people knew me by for a long time. So I used it as my online handles. At times causing turmoil on forums, other times being the butt of a joke. Over all it was cool Being “Bookman”

After getting Tired of folks calling me “Bookie” amongst other things, I shortened it to “Book” …and I even refer to myself as “The Book” .. hence the name of this blog..lol. It fit simply because of who I am, The people I know and how we’re connected. in my opinion, It makes ME the Man.. LOL

I Myself Am Me, In a sense, I’m A Bearer of information, or Like the Merovingian in The Matrix I’m a Trafficker of Information. and because of the things I come across as well as the way process the information as it becomes Knowledge to me. Over time I’ve realized that obtaining bits and pieces of randomness has been good for me. And I like to share what I know. It’s what I do… Yet some how others have began to Cringe at My Display of knowledge. Making me look like the bad guy in this movie ….

I’m never 100% Right, I actually prefer to be corrected when I’m wrong. Years ago I’ve realized how folks value my opinions. so I try not to disappoint them. yet when I decide to speak Facts. That’s when folks feel the need to challenge my knowledge. I can’t stop that yet I can control it.

what’s crazy is that I have a lot of power when it comes to accessing this information. lots have to do with skill too. It’s messed up because I have not applied myself to make myself better Legally.. and generally That’s what this is all about. For me. I think it’s time that I make myself able to succeeded in life.

Over the years, I’ve procrastinated on getting things done for me. With the things I Know. I’ve only used them to apply to Other people and not myself. I spend so much time assisting others, till the point that folks get angry with me for trying to do things for myself. When I do try to better myself, folks tend to think it’s selfish. For me. I think I have to attempt at being More selfish. it’s the only way I’m going to succeed.

Over the years I’ve put Everything Before me. If I don’t take action now. I’ll forever be a nobody… Tired of holding things off. Time to Make me a better man…. It’s why I read, it’s why I Seek to find information. to build up my own personal ideas. and to make Me better…. I gotta do it for me..

Overall, I’m not important, but I will be someday. I’m not in it to be popular I’m in it to succeed.

In light that I have nothing better to do right now, I’m waiting for time to pass so I can go to practice. It’s the last rehearsal b4 Saturday’s Picnic.

For Months folks have asked me to do more of those wrestling character videos. and I finally got around to doing one… Two to be exact. one band related, the other Fraternal. I put somewhat of a disclaimer beneath the fraternal video simply because I’m not part of any org. as well as the fact that I only do it for entertainment purposes.  I

Comments beneath videos in the past were mostly negative shots at myself for creating something that (according to them) does not represent them in good light. In my defense there are members of frats who ask me to do them. so I do them in their behalf.  Many of them think its funny.  those who hate it should lighten up in my opinion.

It’s more less a video capture and edit, rather than an actual created team thing though.. one other thing that prompted me to doing theses was finding my input and S-video connectors. I was trying to show my dad how those VGA things work on the TV. he was trying to get the burn out of our big screen.. No hope.. but I did use the big screen as a monitor for a  hot minute ..lol

I found myself Tweeting/Facebooking up a storm and Finding out things such as how people are when they’re amongst the “in crowd” and how they do things to fit in. yet when they’re alone they’re weak.. it’s a shame how they play face…

Band Content On Band sites Beat out Facebook In Viewership

I realize that the band sites are still on and poppin’ when it comes to an outlet for promoting things band related. partly because the band sites of the same interest. Another reason is because  Facebook is timeline based and if you don’t see it In your feed, you’ll likely miss out if it’s not shared with you. Folks on band websites come to the site because they know the content is going to be there.

i Last weekend, one of the bandhead.org members who has his own website for Chicago Bands, had recently filmed & posted the band video from the Chicago Football Classic. I highlighted 2 of his videos in the Feature Box on bandhead.org 2 days ago.  one of them was Hampton University’s Halftime show. Prior to viewing the show. I saw that the video had no more than 29 Views. Only 2 days after this video was highlighted, it received over 2000 hits.  The Majority of the hits came from Mobile devices, Bandhead.org, 5th Quarter, and Facebook. See Below

As you can see, The band website hits outweigh Facebook hits. as far as mobile devices, no telling if those hits could also be part of the band sites views as well. because those sites are also available via mobile devices.

Generally though. from this, I see that the value of band sites is still high. No doubt it’s only  662 hits from the band sites alone.. but as compared to hits from Facebook, The band sites are still doing justice.

oddly enough people have spinoff band groups on Facebook. but their biasness kills the  groups universal appeal. With us (bandhead.org) highlighting a school like Hampton (which we rarely do / thanks to Terrell’s videos.) The Impact is still great. and it shows that it’s good to highlight these bands, not for hits. but for better promotion of the bands themselves. It’s clear us (bandhead / marchingsport) and 5Q play a big roll the exposure of marching bands. especially when allowing the band community to  mingle amongst themselves.

We’re Good for Band!

A Challenge, I hope I do good at it though.

Basically, my cousin wants me to take photos at her wedding, it’s likely she’ll want them printed. in this case. it’ll be  all about the bride, the groom and the court. anyone else is secondary.

I hope nobody’s there telling me how to do what I’ll be doing. simply because I do already have a clue of how I want to do things. for me, it’s time to get a little more comfortable with this camera as it relates to people photography. I don’t want to do anything wrong. nor do I want to be a disappointment.

I don’t plan on taking 300 pictures. maybe 300 for my book. but only about 40 of the actual wedding. I hope this goes smoothly. and I hope to be there to discuss with whomever involved that I’ll need space to move around.  I’m charging cheaply but at the end of the day I’ll have me some experience to live on. I hope the lighting is great in there, that’s all.

I Deleted it from my page after I realized it seemed to be a threat. So I sent him a message asking what’s up….I’m currently waiting for him to respond. The irony of it is that right afterwards i got a call from Tramaine.. I didn’t answer.

Sometime between then and now I came to the conclusion that a private conversation got back to him in a way that that made me look as if I was talking badly about him. No.. that’s not the case..

While I was being dropped off home Thursday I was talking to Tony in regard to The cats from our alma mater who marched for TSU and their whereabouts now.. When he mentioned will. I stated my opinion on what the dude is doing.. Maybe I shouldn’t have told him any of it. because now this cat is threatening me because of whatever got back to him. that’s kinda stupid..

I think its crazy that he came at me like that. I’ll just be more mindful when i’m speaking amongst these cats..   The things i said in regard to Will was simple, I said, I hope he cleans himself up because what ever he’s on has him totally out of it, The dude could be somebodies band director right now but that stuff is holding him back..  It’s the truth.. If that got back to him. he shouldn’t be upset. but The way it got back to him was perhaps Told to him in a different demeanor

I even recalled upon a times where he would show up to my house randomly just to chill, he’s be like  and how he’d be when he’s at my door or on the phone….. eventually i had to distance myself the dude because my folks didn’t care for him being around because they were under the impression that i was going to be influenced by what ever he was doing..

no doubt I did tell this to tony. but these cats also Know how he is cause they roll with him too and say the SAME THING about the cat.. my situation with the dude is different because i wasn’t part of their clique in high school. 

On my part. I felt like that  conversation we had was something for quick laughs and nothing really to be taken in.  I understand that Will would be upset to know that he was being talked about in that manner.. Yet they do it too but THEY wouldn’t tell it to his face… so they they bring what I say to him.. that’s messed up..

I now see that I can’t talk to these cats about anything… i mean hey I didn’t roll with them in high school anyway…

As for now I’m waiting for a response …

.. aight.. So He Responded to me message saying

… I understood…  in this case Most likely he talked to Tony and he’s gonna send me something else due to my reply.. I apologized to the dude for what ever it was told to him  cause i don’t need what ever beef he has with me to get any deeper.. which i know it ain’t beef it’s just a Reaction…

I wrote

”i know i can't take it back. but i do apologize for what ever it was you heard man. I only was recalling on some things that i thought was gonna get a quick laugh. no doubt u probably wouldn't find it funny. but it was nothing big or that serious. .. just being real bruh.”

I was gonna say more, but I’ll wait till next time…  I’m serious.. This dude is no enemy of mine. I just have my view of what he’s doing is not a good thing for him.. who am i to say that? well I’m Nobody important. But due to this. situation i presented before you..  is one reason I do understand why I have to watch m words when I’m talking to folks..

Man, It’s September Already.

As you may or may not know I’ve been attending Alumni band practices and among other things fixing PC’s so I really haven’t had the time to blog. So I’m doing that now… lol… 

I just got through cooking some macaroni. I Haven’t been to sleep in over 24 Hours and I need to take a bath.  There were topics I wanted to talk about but they all slipped my mind.  With that said. I’m currently Listening to music and just relaxing.

In the past  week I’ve helped my Cousin with a highlight video for youtube. I attended the band practices.. paying attention to the storms, and the current one that’s on the path here.  looks like that marsh fire is out now too. you can smell it. smells like freshly burned rubble in some dew. it’s terrible yet amazing in its own way.. There’s tin light of all that. I also uploaded clips from the recent practices. I’ve been too.  I missed last week due to dental work but I sure went this week and it was great!.. I saw a few more folks I hadn’t seen since high school and that’s amazing to me.because that was 10 years ago, we don’t have a school yet were making music together again. 

For some of the people in that room  they’ve been over 15 years off the horns and drums. we’re rusty but the music is there. I should record it more often..LOL! I let someone else record. as you can see I’m on a horn..LOL!

Music’s a great thing man…. aside from those who hold us back we’re moving forward and taking on the world. it’s good for our alma mater. I’d say.

.. With that said.. I’ll go get some rest in a bit.. that’s if I don’t continue to compute ..LOL
